The 3-Tand Sand Spikes are foldable and are easy to pack and go. Both sand spikes come with a convenient nylon bag with drawstring, drain hole, and belt loop making it easier to attach the spikes to your belt or just throw in your bag. The 3-Tand sand spikes are great for the surf but can also be wedged between rocks or used in riverbanks, lake shores, or the flats.
- Rivets are stainless steel and include a protective plastic tube so butt of rod doesn't get damaged
- Spikes have rubber edge to protect gear and rubber lock ring to keep spike in open position
- Penetrates sand and soil easily when inserted into the ground, offers more support than PVC spikes
- Spike tubes have series of holes on side that allow for height adjustments by simply inserting a lock pin in the hole for desired height setting for your rod

SS-3 Sand Spike

Very well made. Worked flawlessly while surf fishing. Folds up into a nice carry case.
Light weight sand spikes good for the rocks too
July 21, 2016
Used the SS-2 and SS-3 3-Tand Sand Spikes on beaches and rocky shores in California and Hawaii for couple of years. For me the SS-2 spikes were a little short for securing rods on the beach but they work great on the rocky shores. The fact that it is very light makes it easy to carry attached to my pack and comes in handy when you want to set your rods and secure them without damage from the rocks. Although the carry bags are starting to show wear, the spikes are still in excellent condition . . . just rinsed with fresh water after each use.

Great Tool for Mobile Surf Fishing with Light Gear
January 25, 2014
This spike is a perfect addition to Southern California surf fishing style with light gear and lots of walking. Easily attaches to a backpack or sling pack when folded. Opens easily and provides a means to keep the pole out of the sand during rest breaks or as a holder when still fishing with light tackle. Perfect when changing riggings. May not be the best choice for heavier applications. Nice quality build.
ProsQuality build. Compact. Convenient.
ConsMay be too light/short for some applications.

I gave the SS2 a try and it does exactly as described, it's excellent! The spike end to the hinge is ~ 10.5 inches on the SS2. How many inches is the SS3 from the spike end to the hinge? Thanks

From the pictures, the spike end for the SS2 and SS3 look to be identical with the rod holder longer on the SS3. How deep into the sand can the SS2 and SS3 be spiked?
The SS2 and the SS3 3-Tand Sand Spikes can be put into the sand up to the hinges. Burying the sand spike beyond that could damage the hinges over time.
