Great beginner saltwater baitcaster
March 30, 2016
Nice light weight reel but probably better for fresh water. I bought this reel last year to jig back bay fishing for flounder and small stripers. I paired it up with a 7 foot st croix mojo in shore nice light weight set up for casting all day which it does cast very well. Only down fall is small spool holds around 200 yards 30# braid and only 11# drag. The finish on the reel didn't hold up too well the chrome looking frame plate already pitted but it still functions great so that's why I give it four stars. Probably going to upgrade to either the lexa 300 hd or the coastal tws 200. It's a great reel caught several flounder ranging from 12 to 19" a lot of small sand sharks and one 25" bluefish which really made me wish I had a little bigger reel. It nearly spooled me but I still managed to land him. Magnetic cast control works great don't have to open side plate to adjust. The price is great if your a saltwater angler who wants to try a baitcaster for the first time. The internals held up well just normal rinse after use and I also lubed up halfway through the season was just starting to feel a little gritty before I lubed it. Smooth as silk now.
Pros:Lightweight mag force cast control knob on outside price for beginner saltwater baitcaster
Cons:Small spool and low max drag finish on reel not the best
