Northbar Tackle 1102-A Bottledarter Lure
|Northbar Tackle Bottledarter||7.25''||2.5 oz.||VMC 9626 3/0 4X STRONG||$17.49 USD|
The Northbar Tackle Bottledarter is extremely versatile and can be fished a variety of different ways.
- On those flat calm nights, the Bottledarter can be swam on the surface much like a metal lip. A painfully slow retrieve makes a nice wiggle and produces a surface wake that is sure to entice some nice fish.
- On open beach without much current, a slow steady retrieve works very well. Mix in a few twitches of the rod tip to really make the lure dart.
- The Bottledarter lure loves current rips. Cast this lure out and just take up the slack to remain in contact with the lure as it sweeps. Every once and a while take a full crank on the reel while lifting your rod tip (you will feel the lure really swim). Reel down slowly while keeping tension on the line. Repeat this retrieve and hold on!
- Loaded with 10cc's of liquid. Northbar's testing shows that a loaded Bottledarter casts very well. The action is slightly different than unloaded. The lure has more darting action and has already taken some very nice fish!

tough on blues
aiming for stripes.......ended up with blues all night! color retained but scratched like hell:-))
Prosplastics sure made the difference.. woods are great but no bullet proof to the blues assassins.

Northbars are my go to plugs! I've never failed to catch monsters with the blue mackeral bottledarter. I have been using Northbars for over a year now and have been catching monster snooks, bull reds, and blacktips.
ProsCasts well, various color schemes to choose from

Good lure catches fish
I use this bottle darter fishing tidal currents without much wind. It didn't cast as well as I had wanted so I loaded it with 1/2oz of water which improved the distance.
ProsGood action and hardware
Consdoesn't cast well

I use this lure when fishing on an inlet jetty and it gets pounded on by big fish! I just use a slow retrieve and let the current do all the work for me. Awesome lure. I can also drill a whole and add about 10 cc of water to make it heavier for more casting distance.
ProsAwesome hardware and colors. Great action.
ConsNone, at least for now.

By far one of my best producers of all time. I caught my biggest fish on the lure and I have a lot of confidence in it. I use it in the rips and when its moderate-rough out. A+

In rough conditions, heavy surf or current & sweep, this plug casts well, digs in, and maintains it's action. As the name suggests, it combines the wiggle of a bottle plug with the more erratic side to side darting of a darter - especially with current, I'll maintain a slow retrieve with occasional rod twitches to get the darting action. In waves, vary your retrieve speed to match the wave action and maintain good contact with the plug at all times - speed up when the plugs being pushed by a wave, and slow down when the wave is receding and pulling against the plu. Big profile to match big bait or cull larger stripers. One of my favorite go-to plugs every Fall - rough water, big bait, big fish. Great value pricing, comes with solid hard-ware and doesn't generally need any modifications, though some do. Northbar provides a good array of fish-catching colors and shades. Mackerel and yellow have already been reliable producers for me over the pst 3-4 seasons, with blurple and white (with light pink haze stripe) getting added to the mix this coming season.
Prosprofile and action hardware keeps digging and working in rough conditions wide range of colors including the proven standards fish-catching

Definately my "go to" plug at night, and in rough surf. Hard to fish it wrong. Responsible for most of my bigger bass the past 5-6 seasons.
ProsDurable, great hooks and rings out of the package. Super color options.

I LOVE THESE PLUGS
THESE ARE MY NEW FAVORITE PLUGS FOR HUNTING BIG SNOOK AND REDS ON FLORIDAS EAST COAST, IF YOU GET HUNG UP GIVE HER SOME SLACK AND THEY ACTUALY FREE THEMSELVES UP FROM THE ROCKS BECAUSE OF THEIR BOUYANCY IN THE WATER. THEY MADE GOOD COLORS TOO. I HEAR YOU CAN LOAD THEM FOR MORE DISTANCE BUT IM SATISFIED WITH THEM FRESH OUT THE PACKAGE. VERY FUN TO FISH!!!
ProsTHEY DONT SNAG LIKE OTHER PLUGS

One of my go to's, always have at least one in the bag. Can be fished several different ways in different conditions. For its size and type, cast nicely.

whats in a name
Northbar one of the greatest spots on the east coast and this lure has become one of those best as well. a very unique design incorporating a bottle plug with the heads cut off to act like a darter. These plugs swim like no other that a passing fish can't resist but strike. every time.

This plug really shines in heavy surf conditions. It digs in perfectly and has a wide wobble typical of larger baitfish. It casts beautifully and is one of my go to plugs when a stiff wind is in my face and the surf is really churned up. One thing I really like about this plug is that it comes stock with Krok swivels, VMC hooks and Wolverine split rings. No need to change out the split rings or hooks like many other plugs. Great product and I carry at least three in my surf bag every time I hit the beach!

Hello. I am a little confused. In the description for this lure, it states that it comes loaded with 10cc of fluid. And the manufacturer provides a tutorial on how to load the Bottledarter. Does this lure come loaded with liquid from the manufacturer? And if so, what kind of liquid is used? Thank you for your time!
We spoke with Northbar. They said none of the lures are loaded. The wording is bad in the description. That is the reason they posted the how-to videos. They suggest loading with mineral oil instead of water to prevent internal rusting.
