A more advanced edition of the Spinfisher series reels. The Spinfisher V Series spinning reels are made with Penn's new Water Tight Design which protects the reel from saltwater making its way into the gearbox or drag system. The Spinfisher V Series reels have many improved features such as the rubber gasket that keeps superline from slipping. Another great feature is the line capacity rings, so you will always know how much line is left during a tough angling fight.
- New thicker heavy duty aluminum bail wire adds strength and durability
- 5 Shielded stainless steel bearing system
- Infinite anti-reverse (back up ratchet on 7500-10500 sizes)
- Friction trip ramp prevents premature bail trip when casting
- Stainless steel mainshaft and alloy main gear
- Triple-supported and oversized stainless steel mainshaft on 9500 and 10500 models
- Enhanced gear ratios on smaller sizes
- LC - Long Cast - designed with the avid surf fisherman in mind

Awesome reel. Use it surf fishing in NC. Very good casting distance. Lots of muscle for bigger fish, my son has caught several 5-6' sandbar sharks on the reel already this year. Will also be using this for drum fishing.
Great Surf Reel

Bought this reel to pair it with a 10 foot medium heavy, fast action rod for throwing metal and plugs. It is pretty impressive the distance achieved from this spinning reel! At first turning the handle felt smooth but sluggish then after a day of fishing it loosens up a bit and less effort has to be exerted to turn the handle and you can retrieve much faster with much less effort. The bail wire is thicker than the older model SSVs and everything else on the reel feels just as tough as the other Penn products. A few waves broke over the reel while I was out. When I got home I took the reel apart to clean it up and there was zero water inside which is pretty impressive because the reel was submerged a few times.
Proswater tight, thick bail wire, 20lbs of drag

All around great reel, smooth operation both casting and reeling. Tough and strong.
ProsSmooth all the way around. Love how the line lays and reel is tough. Hauled in a 33 lb high fin blue and 34 lb flat head no problem. True drag.
Great for the price!

It was time to step up in bigger spinning reel. This one reminds me of the old black n gold spinning reels my grandfather use to have, in which he could cast his 6 hooks with his 6 oz sinker approximately 100 yards with no effort! This reel has improved my distance, which should improve even more as my casting technique improves!
ProsImproved casting distance Easily holds 500 yards of 30# braid
ConsNone that I have at this time

I spooled this reel with 30lb power pro super slick and ran it direct to my terminal tackle setup for drum with a fish finder rig. The reel was mounted to a heavy action 12 foot Hurricane Typhoon. This reel is a perfect match for that rod as it is a good heavy counterbalance to the rod. This is not a reel for a lightweight lure caster, but it excels as a great 8 and bait rod and reel setup. My first cast at home with a moderate power Hatteras cast landed a 4 oz. lead 330 feet into wind. After getting used to the setup the casts were longer with a bit more practice and power, exceeding 350 feet with 4 oz. I'm not a power caster and not great at form, but for me I was impressed with the distance this reel can muster. Fished the beaches at Hatteras Island with this rig and it was my go to for long casts to the outer edges of the trough near the first bar breakers off the beach at low tide. The line lay was perfect out of the box and contributed greatly to its ability to cast smooth and far. I did not have a chance to experience the drag on a large fish, but I'm sure it will handle anything that the 30lb braid could handle. Great looking reel, that won't break the bank, and excellent operation for 2 weeks at the beach. I'm considering another one for a 10 Foot heavy action rod as well.
ProsSmooth, long casts, handles braid line very well, reasonably priced, great looks
ConsNot any other than wish penn would make another SSVLC in a smaller, lighter platform for light rod application.

New spinfisher live liner.. it has been changed the design much nicer. mechanism on live lining is better than bait runner because it has more articulation. overall construction is also beyond bait runner..

Casts a mile!

I paired this reel with my 11 foot Ron Arra Rod, it is a long cast reel. I added distance to my cast. The spool setup on this reel allows for less resistance as the line leaves the spool, it does allow for longer casts!
ProsLine lay, weight of reel, speed os retreve, ease of casting

I bought this Penn 7500 LC reel along with the Lamiglas Ron Arra 1383-2 long cast rod. With all the snow haven't thrown the reel yet,. but it's true, it's a big reel that belongs on at least an 11 ft rod IMO. The reel came well greased and spins nice. I can't wait to use it soon enough.

Would 7500lc work for virtical jigging on a shorter rod?
If you are looking for a vertical jigging reel than there would be no reason to use the LC (long cast) model of this reel. A standard Spinfisher V would be more appropriate.

Looking for a rod to pair with this reel. Used mainly for bass and other surf fishing in NJ. Will be used mainly for bait but maybe a heavy plug. Not looking to spend a fortune trying to keep it around $200. Any suggestions would be great.
The Tsunami Airwave Elite Surf Spinning Rods 9 ft - 10 ft would pair well with the Penn Spinfisher V SSV7500LC Spinning Reel Long Cast.

I want to match this reel to a high quality surf rod at least 11 foot tall. rockfish, red drum, large bluefish and sharks. a rod that would be acceptable for lures or cut bait if possible but mainly cut and live bait. I can not find the rod to reel chart. sorry.
