RH Custom Rods CTS S8 Surf series is the lightest, most powerful long range casting blanks in the world today. These blanks feature a zoned action; the butt is stiff and tapers into a moderate midsection and then a fast action tip. This design transfers all the power you put into the cast efficiently to your payload.

The Surf series excels at casting plugs and poppers at large predatory fish and has become a favorite of many who chase Roosters and Jacks on Mexican beaches. Metals are put in orbit and schools on the far side of the bar are no longer safe. The heavier rated rods perform extremely well as weight and bait heavers targeting stripers, drum and sharks.
  • Taper: Extra Fast
  • Action: Fast
  • Material: 57msi Carbon
  • Core: VeroCore Carbon Helix

A $7.00 oversize packaging charge may apply to these items as they ship in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

What kind of reel would be suggested to be put on this rod for very far casting?
The Shimano Ultegra XSC Surf Spinning Reels would be a great reel to put on the RH Custom Rods CTS S8 Surf Rods.

Is there a warranty on the s8 cts ? Does the 5 piece 11 ft 6 come with a travel case or just in a cardboard shipping tube?
Hello Walter. These particular rods come with a limited lifetime warranty. And unfortunately the 5 piece rod does not come with a carrying case. It will come in a cardboard shipping apparatus. Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!

Has any one used the 5 piece cts 11 ft 6 ? I am thinking of upgrading my stcroix 10 ft travel surf rod. I use a diawa saltist 5000 reel and usually throw 2 to 3 oz plugs and metal in Mexico for jacks, roosters ect. I was wondering if it will be easier to get more distance, the st croix only throws about a 100 yds max with 3 oz metal. You really have to put all you have into it to get any distance. Any disadvantages with 5 piece? Thanks
Make the switch! The CTS will definitely cast further than the St. Croix travel rod and it is more powerful. It will make fighting those Jacks and Roosters much easier. The 5 piece also allows for much easier travel. You may want to consider moving up in reel size to the 6000 due to the added line capacity.

What reel would you recommend for use with the SE1102-2 (11 ft, 3-6 oz). I use bait (not live) at high tide 80% of the time but will throw plugs the other 20% when surf casting for stripers. I am considering the Penn SpinFisher 7500.
The Spin Fisher will work well with the 11' S8. We would suggest looking into the 7500LC Long Cast model. The S8 will absolutely launch your offerings, so a long cast reel really makes sense.
