I got this for Christmas and just now got to use it. I paired it with a Penn 6000 Battle, and I put a Breakaway cannon on it.
I fished with it once so far at Dauphin Island Alabama. I was throwing 4 ouces and a figer mullet on fish finder rig and it flat went 50 yards further than I thought it would. I educated some sea gulls about a 15 ft surf rod.
I took it to a lake the other day to practice and was throwing 5 ounces. I put 150 + yards of Pink Ande on the reel and then toped it with 150+ 30# PP Slick 8. I had a little wind from behind but on a couple of casts I could see a lot of Pink Ande showing on the reel. I don't know what the sweet spot is yet.
Pros:It can flat throw a bait. You will have no problem getting to the second bar. Its a spinner so it's not that hard to learn to throw. I plan on using it to shark fish at night. It's a massive long distance rod for less than $100.
Cons:It is really heavy. This is not for the weak or faint of heart. It is a little wippy but that is an Ugly stick. You had better get a Breakaway Cannon or it will cut your finger off. If you have a bad back don't pick it up.
I have not tried it yet but it is rated at 12 ounces and I think it would be a little scary.
It only breaks down to 2 seven and a half foot sections and the but will not fit in a 4" ID tube.
