Ugly Stik Tiger rods are versatile rods that can be used from coast to coast. Tiger rods are at home catching tuna in the Pacific as well as landing monster catfish down south. The famous Ugly Stik construction gives these rods an advantage for fighting trophy-sized fish.

Ugly Stik Tiger Lite

I don't like this rod very much. It's really heavy and I would only recommend it for live lining for stripers, not plugging.

I am a huge Ugly Stik fan no matter if it's a Classic Ugly or the wonderful Tiger Lite casting rod such as this one. The price is sooo right and for what you pay you get so much rod! Quality components through-out. And a great feel. I can only speak for the casting versions, as I not a "spinner" guy.
ProsCONFIDENCE. I have owned and been on the Pro-staff for rod manufactures that make a Ugly Stik Tiger Lite rod seem like a give away.......I've used rods that cost $550, and although light in weight most certainly, lacked confidence when it came to BIG fish on light tackle. And usually the LIGHT tackle LOOSES! And in the hands of anyone but a complete expert angler, the rods have SNAPPED in half like a tree limb. And when in the hands of a experienced angler even you had to baby the rod. NOT A UGLY STIK. And especially not a Tiger Lite. With a wonderful parabolic bend, these rods provided even to someone like myself who is a life long angler and full-time fishing guide with all the back bone needed. Fugi guides, Reels seats, and a great feel due to the durable EVA foam, and the "cool" cork grip added.
ConsIf there was a so called "CON", the only one I'd say that is would be that I like complete 7' rods and 7'6" rods. The Ugly Stik Lite I use is 6'9" medium casting. And I believe, Ugly Stik ..."Shakespeare" came up with this length, because it's the material they have, and may have left. I'm sure that Shakespeare utilizes every ounce of material with no waste. Being able to have rods of this caliber at a whopping $60.....(???) I could be wrong. But If I had my druthers I'd want a 7' rod. BUT, does it keep the rod from being one of my absolute favorites for bottom fishing the St. Johns River inlet, or casting monster top water plugs. NO!

It's an ugly stik not much to say not the prettiest rod in the rack but a definite a workhorse for what ever you put it up against. I use these two on my kayak and inshore/offshore for pitching baits and lures
ProsDefines tough
