- 7 Year Warranty
will it hold up

Have not had a chance to abuse the rod yet, by abuse I mean test it on these rough golf fish. New guides "look" much stronger than old ones that kept falling out or breaking. only time will tell.
ProsImproved guides, value priced

ProsLight weight, super sensitive tip and a strong back bone.
MORE THAN EXPECTED
May 12, 2016
I received this rod as a gift a short time ago. I've owned ugly stiks in the past and have always found them to be dependable but heavy with a slower action. This GX2 however seems lighter with a faster action and has a better feel to it. It is much be than I expected for throwing lures and has a better set of line guides than the regular Ugly Stiks. Though it's a short sample, so far, I've been impressed.
ProsPrice. Faster action. Guides.
ConsFor this price, none.

Got this rod for my nephew and he has caught some nice stripers, blues, largemouth and redfish with it he even caught a stingray and it help up very well. It's paired with a 4000 Battle and it looks very nice!
Very nice for the money

I have used ugly sticks for a long time, the new GX2 Rods are very affordable and tough. I have landed everything from a school striper, up to a 60lb ray. If you are just starting out, or just want a very nice pier fishing rod, the Ugly Stik GX2 would be my first recommendation.
ProsVery tough, strong and affordable.
ConsIf you don't rinse after every use, the guides will start to corrode.
Not that great.

It's not the worst, but even with cleaning and rinsing after every trip it rusts on the guides.

Far different that Ugly Sticks of old. Graphite and fiberglass composite. Excellent rod guides, reel seat and general excellent construction and first rate quality. Great back bone
ProsNew design composite construction. Increased sensitivity of first generation Ugly sticks. Lighter weight and price. Great for jigging, chucking and spinncasting. Great multi purpose rod.
ConsFor what you pay vs what you get I cant find any

Well worth the price

My father and I have used Ugly Stik's for as long as I can remember and for the price, you get more than you pay for. These rods (all Ugly Stik sizes and types) provide great action, while providing good strength. I watched my dad pull in a 39 lb. redfish in Grand Isle with this rod so obviously it can hold it's on. We've had a few of these rods for many years now and never had one break and that's after many years of abuse. Like I said, for the money, it's well worth it and you won't be disappointed. Plus, it's a great starter rod if you're a beginner or if you're trying to provide a decent set-up for your children at a good price. I give it a 4 instead of a 5 only because of course for a higher price you can buy a higher quality rod.
ProsDurability Action Sensitivity
ConsFor the price you get more than what you pay for, so to me there are no cons
