I think this reel is just as good as the baitrunner d performance wise just slightly cheaper

I've used this reel surfcasting and on boats with success. It has a great value and just because it has a nice bait runner doesn't mean the other functions of the reel suffer. In fact, the reel is smooth and comfortable. Live lining bunker or mackerel woks great with the OC.
ProsValue Dependable Smooth
ConsShouldn't be exposed to salt water
Live Lining Reel

When I live-line Bunker, this is the reel I will use, it's a very sturdy reel for the money.

A legendary Shimano Baitrunner design, I have used them In various forms for over a decade. Arguably the best Snapper reel for free spooling soft biting Snapper as it allows them to take the bait then you strike when they have fully taken the bait. This reel is the reel of choice for any serious Snapper angler in Victoria.
ProsThis particular model offers great value for money features.

Which Shimano bait runner OC works best with the extra heavy trevala rod?
Either the 6000 or 8000. It comes down to the amount of line you need. They both will offer the same amount of drag, but the 8000 gives you more line capacity.
