Great Reel That Exceeded Expectations
April 6, 2016
Have had this reel for two years & it continues to exceed my expectations. Have not used it in saltwater but understand that you can (assuming proper rinsing afterwards). Have used this reel for pitching 3/8 oz. to 1.5 oz. jigs, throwing 1 oz. blade baits, trolling small Spoonplugs , Rattletraps, 5" Senkos and more. I spool it with 30# Suffix 832 White w/ Flouralcarbon leader, usually 15#, and never a problem. Have landed many largemouth & smallmouth bass, Pickerel, some larger northern pike and one muskie.
ProsLight, easy to palm all day long, multiple adjustments for casting & the best spinning spool I have found on any reel thus far.
ConsExpensive...but worth it. Wish I could afford a few more. Working on it.

It's like McDonald's... I'm lovin' it!

Bought two of these and they are awesome. Super smooth and highly customizeable. The ci4+ body bring peace of mind whenever I fish these in the saltwater flats and bays off of my hobie kayak. The new ci4+ material is super strong and stiff, unlike the regular ci4+, so no worries on flex in the reel. It holds a good amount of line, and is still small enough to be palmed by the average hand. Wouldn't expect anything less from shimano!
ProsSmooth Durable SW Use Recommended Casts a mile!
ConsSlightly pricey

Got this reel as a father's day gift and was blown away by how smooth it was right out of the box. Casts a mile and and the drag sings.

Is it good to use this reel in salt water? Can the magnesium withstand it?
The reel is built for saltwater fishing, and is much more durable than other reels and freshwater reels. But, it will rust up or corrode if not taken care of and rinsed off after use. Also, you need to avoid dropping it in salt water. Do not submerge it in salt water.
