Light Reel, Loads of Power

Started off with the intentions of using this reel (4000) only for freshwater but it has become my favorite inshore setup paired with a 7' St. Croix Mojo Bass. The Stradic really got me into and made me a believer of light tackle fishing (only 9oz). It has been used everywhere from the sand, boat, and kayak and has held up very well handling a variety of fish like Gator Bluefish and most recently Fluke. Can't wait to see what the Stradic comes tight with in the future, no doubt in my mind it won't be able to handle it!
ProsGreat drag system, smooth, durable, strong, light, handle.

I use this reel for striper, perch, croaker and bluefish on the Chesapeake Bay. Use 20 pound braid, and have never had any issue with wind knots. Reel is very durable, have utilized it for going on three years with minimal maintenance and is still working very, very well. Matched with a 7 foot St Croix spinning rod. Best attribute is the incredible lightness of the reel due to the use of carbon fiber, with the durability a close second.

I've owned a CI4 3000 previous to owning this and both reels are above expected performance. I use the 3000 CI4+ for redfish and snook, some over 10lbs and it handles them with ease. The best thing about this reel is its weight, if your like me you like to throw artificials all day and every ounce off the rod/reel weight can make all the difference. I really like the waterproof drag in this model as i kayak fish and splashing is inevitable. No issues with saltwater mucking up anything after a year, it was the same with my original CI4. If your on the fence, get this reel, Shimano is on top of their game! Ill also add i've dropped both reels off my kayak (on accident) and they floated even rigged on the rod (Redbone 7' M)

I have a 11 ft lamiglas insane blank what model would u use for surfcasting with 30 pound braid and how much drag do u suggest
I would not recommend using this reel with that rod, the reel is way too small for it.

I have a 6'8" G Loomis IMX Jig and Worm Bass spinning rod IMX802S JWR which has a line weight of 6-12lb and was looking for a new reel. You guys have this listed under salt water for the reel. I was wondering if i can use this reel on my rod? And If I can which model should I get of this reel? Thanks
It is listed under saltwater and freshwater as well, because it can be used for both. I think that this reel would be great for the rod that you are using. I would personally go with the 3000 or 4000 size on that length rod.

Looking for a good 2 pc rod to pair with this reel I have a size 4000, will be doing inshore fishing.
Very hard to find a 2 piece rod under 8' long. We suggest the St. Croix Triumph Surf (SCR-0212). It is a 2 piece, 8' medium action surf rod. If you want something shorter, check the (SCR-0885). It is a 7' long, 3 piece travel rod.

I want to pair this with a StCroix 2 pc. I'd like to be able to cast 1/16 oz as far from my boat as I can.im thinking light with medium action.
That would be a great reel. It may be hard to find a St. Croix 2pc that will meet your specs. I suggest you take a look at the Fenwick rods also.
