The new Shimano Tiralejo Surf Spinning Rods are made with the all new Shimano C4S blank construction which utilizes high modulus blank and wraps 4 outer layers of 90 degree graphite. The C4S construction is a unique design that uses Carbon "C" a 4 layer process "4" and slit carbon tape "S" while using high modulus carbon "HM". THe rod is wrapped with an inner and outer layer of carbon tape over two layers of carbon pre-preg. This design significantly increases the strength of the rod but more importantly increases the recovery rate which in turn allows you to cast farther and more accurately as it helps eliminate blank twist when put under a heavy load. This new rod construction will increase the hoop strength for maximum pulling power without inhibiting the sensitivity.

  • Custom long cast concept guide spacing
  • Fuji stainless steel frame with alconite inserts
  • Black shrink tube grip
  • Fuji DPS reel seat

A $7.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

Great Surf Rod
February 22, 2016
Fished this beauty for the first time a couple weeks ago on the Gulf in South Florida. The weather was terribly windy. Was casting a consistent 70-80 yards in a sustained 30 knot headwind compared to my other 10' surf Rod which would barely cast 50. I was casting 6 oz Sputnik sinkers and light chunk just to hold bottom. I paired this Rod with shimano ultegra 10000 xsc and it was a match made in heaven. No wind knots in 70+ hours on the beach using 40 lb braid. Casting 6 oz is on the high end for this Rod but it handled it well. Looking forward to fishing in more favorable conditions later in the year. I imagine 3-4 oz and bait would be the sweet spot for this Rod.

Best Rod for the surf spinning/jigging
January 18, 2016
I fish in Africa for Barracudas, Snappers and Jacks and others. I use Jigs and poppers and I have must of the best rods available on the market for surf spinning/jigging, but since I got my Shimano Tiralejo 106MA (second generation) and my 2015 Saltiga 4500H I leave the rest home.

Great Rod NY Long Island Surf and Jetty

Great surfcasting Rod. I fish primarily for Stripers Blues and Albies, but this rod is sensitive enough for fluking too. I left off a star only because at the time I purchased it shimano was not offering a one piece. The 9 1/2 footer casts incredibly well. My last couple of rods were St croixs and I Feel it was a step up in quality even though their service and replacement policies are better.
ProsCasts great Plenty of backbone Sensitive

I LOVE this rod!
January 15, 2015
I recently purchased this spinning rod. I was looking for an affordable quality surfcasting spinning rod with Fuji K-guides that was about 12 to +12 feet in length. This rod is light for its size. It has "back bone" and can control nice size hard fighting fish. Best of all it launches my bait and lures out there with ease using the pendulum and easy casts. I use both the Shimano Ultegra 10000 and the Shimano Stella 18000 loaded with super braid with this pole depending on what I am doing and how I am feeling that day/night.
ConsI recently purchased this spinning rod and added it to my collection of fishing equipement. I would love it if Shimano would still have its limited lifetime warranty for this pole. If they did it would make a perfect pole and investment.

Nice rod for the money
December 9, 2014
I was fishing the surf this fall when a pod of bunker were just out of my reach, so I decided to move up and purchase this rod. Great choice the rod easily adds 20-30 yards to my cast. This rod feels great it casts well and has great power. Casting this rod is such a pleasure. The rod has plenty of backbone for getting your offering out there.
ProsCasting distance, light weight

good surf rod

ProsIt works for me for surf fishing.
ConsShimano give this rod only 1 year limited warranty, witch is not good enough for $300. Above statement is my personal opinion only. for buyers who wanted to save money, should look for the other name brand rod, for the same specification.

My wifes go to rod..

This rod combo'd with the shimano ultegra is unbelievable. My wife fish's, the surf 15 days a month, minimum. She is around 100 lbs so you can imagine her with a heaver. :) She trows this better than anything she has and catch's all the croaker , spott, puppies and blue fish beyond all of us. She claims it is the most sensitive she has out of her quality arsenal of 5 in this 10' range. The positives it gets a 9+, the negatives, I am not allowed to touch it! -8 Would highly recommend! Shimano made this an impressive combo... 20lb. slick braid and it sails when you need it.

junk rod from china
August 7, 2014
had the rod for 35 minutes casting a 2 oz sinker and a fluke hook with a 4 inch gulp. the rod snapped between the 4th and 5th guide. Im not the only fisherman who snapped the 10 and a half foot model another guy snapped it and brought it back to the tackle shop , got a replacement and snapped that one too. This rod is no wheres near the durability of the old 10 ' model tiralejo which I love and caught a zillion fish on.
Prosthe rod looks awesome and this is why it got one star....
Consbroke with a 2 ounce sinker and the rod was rated for 3 and a half very upset

Hello, I bought a tiralejo the last year, but I think the model has changed. On mine i no ring on the first strand! Is the model has changed this year (2015)? Thank you
We have that model in stock, and I just took a look at it. The first guide is on the second piece of the rod. There are no guides on the butt piece of the rod. Is this what you are referring to? It is safe to assume that this specific model has not changed within the past year.

Does the heavy action on this rod feel like a MH mojo surf
Ace, the Heavy action on the Trialejo is a little more stiff than the medium heavy St. Croix Mojo.

from Nc asked:

Since the 11ft is a heavy action is the rod super stiff or does it have some sensitivity
Ace, the fast action will allow the rod to have great sensitivity.
