Trevala Jigging Casting Rods Recommended Uses
Use this rod with 160 to 270 gram (5 5/8 to 9 1/2 oz.) Shimano Butterfly jigs.
- Shimano TC4 Construction
Shimano has engineered the new responsive TC4 Construction material to elevate your fishing experience. The TC4 Construction material wraps a double inner layer of advanced, dynamic T Glass with an inner and outer spiral of high modulus graphite. This breakthrough in design construction results in an extremely durable, crisp, yet lightweight rod.
- Fuji Concept Alconite Guides
A very strong and durable material, Alconite is the latest in a long line of ceramic rings developed by Fuji. Alconite is so durable it can be made thinner than any other ring, so strong it will hold up to all kinds of fishing demands. Alconite has an 80% greater compression strength and is 20% lighter than aluminum oxide, making it one of the toughest rings used for fishing, as well as one of the lightest.
- Fuji Reel Seat
Built to last Fuji reel seats are designed with graphite nylon bodies, exclusive S-4 Stainless Steel hoods, with lined cushioned inserts to offer a lightweight reel seat with superior strength. Uniform design for increased comfort and self aligned hoods provide a solid lockdown on your reel foot that will never back off while fishing.

Bought this rod for use in fishing with bait and jogging deep wrecks. Rod has great feel and action for strikes and sufficient back bone for setting and deep retrieves.

excellent deep water bottom-fishing rod
I have two of these, and also a TVC66MH2. These are used for bottom fishing for large cod in 'deep' (150-400') water near Newfoundland and they are superbly up to the task. They are incredibly powerful rods relative to their light weight, great for budging large fish off the bottom and pumping them up to the boat. After several years of rough use they still look like new - a testament to their durability. I have equipped the rods with Daiwa Saltist 2 Speed lever drag reels (STTLD20-2SPD and STTLD30-2SPD) and a similar AVET SX 6/4 2-speed reel. Highly recommended.
ProsExcellent power rod for deep jigging with heavy lures and heavy fish.

I have a saltist 20 h on this rod and it has held up great on some nice sized bass
ProsHas plenty of back bone for such a lite rod

These rods are by far some of the best rods on the market. I've never had a problem with anything on these rods. I caught my personal best striper and tog on these rods. Pair these rods with an Avet SX or SXJ and you have one of the best setups for a reasonable price.
ProsLight weight and strong. Good action. Great price.
ConsNone that I have found yet.

Quickly becoming my weapon of choice given it's versatility and feel. All quality components, ergo grips provide positive control whether bottom bouncing or jigging. Looking forward to seeing if it tames the tuna next year. Buy with confidence.
ProsVery light and comfortable with a 50-100# line rating, responsive blank with a strong back.

Great light jigging rod
Excellent little jigging rod, ideal for most jigging situations. Bought it to use primarily for lingcod and rockfish in southwest BC, but will use in other applications as well. Great action, really light, and tough as nails. Also very reasonably priced.
ProsLight, strong, sensitive and durable. Great action.
ConsAfter first use, difficult to put together/pull apart, hence only 4 *

To date I have purchased 7 of these rods and have matched them with both torsa and talica reels. They are very light but also very strong. We use them for trolling, chuncking and jigging tuna. They are light enough to hold all day long and strong enough to beat 200 lb big eye tuna. The work best if kept to a 45 degree angle.
Proslight, powerful and durable. Good warranty
ConsNone so far

Incredibility light weight with big fish strength
Already owned the spinning version and quickly became my go to for snapper and grouper fishing. Light weight makes it much easier to use all day without giving up strength.
February 11, 2015
I paired this rod with my Penn Fathom 12. It is an absolutely awesome combo for the fish that I use it for. I use 30 pound braid on it. I use it for Mangrove Snapper, Grunts, Black Seabass, Porgies, Triggerfish, Flounder, and Grouper. It is a great combo. The Trevala has lots of power for the bigger fish and is lots of fun to use.
ProsLight Good Quality Lots of Backbone

Best Jigging rod out there ...
I matched the Shimano Torium 16 to this rod and makes a perfect setup for deep jigging or bottom fishing. Have tried a couple Tevala jigging rods and they are the go-to for the application. In general I am a huge St. Croix fan for my other rods, however for jigging nothing beats this line-up.
Pros- Power and action - Really sensistive - Fit and finish - Light weight
Cons- None yet

Awesome Light Weight Rod!
I bought 2 of these rods, one for my boyfriend and one for myself. We paired them with 2 speed Daiwa Satlist 40 reels and it is an awesome combo! So light and flexible so the fish is the only one doing the hard work. I came home with the jackpot yellowfin tuna using mine!
ProsExtremely light and thin, super flexible and strong! Great padded grip above the reel for more leverage.
ConsNone! I love it.

July 10, 2014
Great rod, I bought 2 to pair with some Tyrnos 8 reels that I had. Perfect for Mango snapper and smaller grouper.
July 2, 2014
a little heavier than anticipated
The TVC70L is a nice rod but it is definitely heavier than anticipated for the lower jig-head weights that are in the specified range. There is a good amount of padding on the butt that feel is also not great. Other than those gripes... its a Trevala so nothing bad can really be said.
Conslack of feel due to large padded butt; too heavy for jig weights in the lower range

I bought this rod a few days ago, and so far I really like it, it's light , strong, and feels nice in the hand. I have it paired with a release sg and this makes a great setup for small tuna, stripers, and fluke
December 25, 2013
paired this rod with a shimano torium 16 and they're a match made in heaven! spent a whole day jigging and woke up the next day with no sore shoulders. lightwt, sensitive, strong, foregrip's shape is perfect for fighting fish, hardloy inserts are braid friendly, too many to list. so far the biggest I've caught with it is a 14 lb lingcod but I'm very sure it will handle bigger ones!

Prefect Jigging Rod
I found the Shimano TVC60H Trevala Rod paired with a Boss 870 perfect for all around jigging in Venice, La. Loaded with 65lb braid had no problem stopping 70lb tunas & 50lb reef donkeys. This rod is mean & badass for pounding fish.
ProsLight & Mean

ConsIt did snap on me.
