The SPRO BBZ-1 Rat Swim Bait won Best of ICAST at ICAST 2014. This bait is designed to provoke topwater strikes from larger predator fish in both fresh and saltwater, from largemouth bass to striped bass and more. It entices surface strikes by triggering an instinctive reaction that the larger fish are looking for. This lure is not your standard, run of the mill topwater lure, as it can be used with several different techniques such as v-wake, walk the dog, or even popping. It is equipped with super sharp Gamakatsu hooks that ensure solid hooksets. If you are familiar with throwing spook type topwater lures, the BBZ-1 will prove to be a deadly addition to the tacklebox.

great rat bait
The service from Tackle Direct was great I got four BBZ-1 Rat's and they are great both Bass and Pikes are tearing them up. Great lure would advise that anyone wanting to catch more fish get some.
ProsGreat life like action.
ConsIf spro could make same design but 1 1/2 oz that would be cool to.

It took a few cast to get us to the new Rat lure, then reeling and working it was pretty simple. My wife got it for me,for my birthday .
ProsUIt's different lure, something that a bass never seen, where I fish at. And it works.
ConsIt's alittle Big, I am not use to using this size lure.

The tail broke off my lure after using it on three fishing trips. Any advice on how to reattach it or do I need a new one? Thanks.
The tails do break and will need to be replaced on occasion. We have the replacement tails for sale, you can find them by doing a search for their stock number (SPR-0102) on our webpage. On the page is an instructional video on how to change the tail.

What color would you recommend for fishing on Toledo Bend or Sam Rayburn lakes in Texas. Water usually has some color to it so not very clear.
01/27/2015 3:07pm We would recommend a natural color to imitate an actual native rat, and alos recommend a stand out color to generate strikes like the White or the Morning Dawn.
