One tough rod
November 20, 2013
I bought this rod from Tackle Direct a few months ago. where I fish in Florida there is always
A strong breeze/wind in your face and a fast parallel current that on bad days can wash
4oz pyramids onto the beach. at a price of $460, this is my dream rod..
the legend is rated at 3 to 8 Ozs and I believe up to 40lb Line.
It has so much backbone it is hard to believe it is so light. You would need calipers to tell the difference
in thickness between theLegend and Mojo, yet the Legend is clearly the heavyweight. the handle is so thin it sometimes
Gets stuck in the sand spike between the spikes PVC and the perpendicular metal bar within
(maybe a little too thin , huh). But as far as backbone, I don't believe there is a fish in the surf that this rod can't handle.
ithas Fuji K France Alcolite guides and I haven't had any wind knots despite the conditions I mentioned above. it also
Has a Fuji reel seat, but that means precisely zero to me.
but be aware, this rod is not meant for 2 or 3 oz lures, they won't go anywhere.
evethough the rod is light and thin it is still tough to load. Perhaps a touch too tough.
I don't want to call this a fault because the rod is still new to me so it could be me getting used to it.
With 4-6 oz weights plus bait or a similar 4-5 oz aerodynamic hard lure or lesser compact metal lure
the rod casts like a rocket. I have it paired currently with a Penn Conquer 7000 with 30 lb PP. I'm
Not getting the distance I want yet, maybe 75-80 yards but that is probably me still getting the nang of it.
I may put a Cabo on it with PP slick. I think the matching of a rod and reel is basically smoke and mirrors
So I'm not going to pay for a Van Stall or Stella even if I could, which I can't. especially for the surf. if anyone
Disagrees I would love to here your thoughts. as far as fish caught, the biggest one to date was a 35 lb sandbar shard.
The poor thing never had a chance.
This is a really good rod. It would make minced meat out of the typical stripper or redfish . If you live in an area where
You can test drive a Lamiglas Infinity or Loomis Imx you might want to give these a shot too.
as for me, I've already started saving for the next big thing. Good luck guys
Pros:. Very light and slim
. Plenty o backbone
. Maybe too slim of a handle but a real custom look. Great looking rod.
. No wind nots to date.
Cons:. It is expensive
. Might continue to be a little tough to load
