St Croix Tidemaster
September 13, 2016
I have 8 of the tidemaster rods in two different models. After I figure out the right one for what I'm using them for and get the right reel to balance them, they are perfect for what I do. The action is true to the description, weight, durability, looks, all are very good. Some are 10 years old with a lot of use and are in good shape with proper care.

Great rod! its very lightweight and I have paired it with an SXJ and they go perfectly together for pulling doormats and cows out of the water, truly my favorite rod in my quiver.

Good for Light Surf and Inshore
January 7, 2016
This is my first St Croix rod and it's very nice. I like that it has stainless steel guides so should be durable in the salt and surf conditions. I am actually using it as surf casting rod and it's working quite well for that. Very fast action and extremely good back bone. If you dislike whippy rods, this is the one to get. I am certainly going to give this a workout in the spring. Already caught several blues and a trout on 2 oz spoon.

Solid Rod for the Price
March 26, 2015
I'm a fan of St. Croix rods in general, but the Tidemaster is a great value when you're looking for an inshore rod with the function of more expensive rods, without maybe the bare bones weight or the handle technology of something like the Xtreme. Cork is good quality and the durability of the rod is top notch.

Great rod for soft plastics!
November 10, 2014
I use this primarily for Hogy, Slug-go and other soft plastic swim baits from the beach. Very light and strong with a Quantum Cabo 40 and 20lb braid.

Bought this rod 7' 6" Medium Moderate to throw crankbaits for stripers. It casts nice, jerks the way I had hoped, and does the job perfectly. I fish all day without fatigue with this rod. Got another St. Croix on my list now.

tidemaster medium?
June 11, 2014
there needs to be some standard. I have a 7'6" shimanao teramar medium heavy that is about the same, if not lighter than the medium st. croix 7'6". it is great\, but it is beefier than what I anticipated, or wanted. both are fast action. go figure.

good look, nice blank, but reel seat is to small to fit avet 5.8 or accruate 500.

Spinnerbait Rod
December 31, 2013
After using/owning another Tidemaster, I ordered one of these to throw spinnerbaits to Bass. It has become a favorite rod. I love the action, power, and extra length. Most of the rods I have for Bass are 7' and under. If you have room in the boat for longer rods, you can't go wrong with this Tidemaster. Designed for Salt, it is even better in Freshwater!
ProsSaltwater grade hardware.
ConsMight be too long in some situations.

Great in Freshwater too.
December 31, 2013
I spotted one of these rods at a small local bait shop on clearance. I guess it's a mistake to try selling saltwater rods in Illinois. I've been using it as a Walleye crank-bait rod (for my lighter baits)in the IL River. The action is right, the grips are a bit longer than on the Premier series (at least on my rod). A big bonus is upgraded hardware over similar St Croix Premiers. Guide frames are 316 SS to stand up to salt. That makes maintenance much easier, Fresh or Salt.
ProsNice balance, action, with slightly longer cork grips.

Feel the fight
August 6, 2013
Had a great outing with this rod this weekend. On a recent fluke trip I was able to feel every headshake even from the shorts. When we got in to the seabass I was able to feel every little tap as the nibbled the bait. I paired this rod with an Avet sx.

Rigged my St.Croix Tidemaster castind rod with a Saltest-LW casting reel using 20# mono and 40# fluorocarbon leader. using 2 oz. diamond jigs, the rod handled like a dream, the fast action tip allowed me to reach surface feeding bluefish before anyone else on the boat, bring in 5 bluefish over 10 # each was a thrill.
Prosfast tip with plenty of backbone will make your fishing trip exciting
