Great rod, light and sensitive. You can actually throw very light baits with these rods for redfish and trout. It's has enough backbone to handle tough fish around structure as well.

SW Florida Saltwater Fishing
October 31, 2015
Bought this to fish primarily Snook and Redfish on Sanibel and Captiva Islands in SW Florida. Followed the advice of the Tackle Direct representative who helped me make the decision. This is the absolute perfect rod for this application. Recently caught many Reds and Snook in October at Blind Pass on Sanibel. Rod performed exactly as advertised. Super strong with great sensitivity. Love the fact that it is one piece. Would/will buy again.

Rod has a very nice action and feel, makes it very versatile. However it is a little tip heavy.

I see this rod has an xtra fast and fast option for the MH. What would push someone to go with one over the other. I live in Charleston SC, will use mostly for spanish mackeral
Since the action is referring to the tip of the rod, one might choose extra-fast over fast because they prefer a more sensitive rod. Perhaps if they are using jig heads or soft plastics they would like an extra-fast tip to easily create movement in the soft plastic and control whether it is a subtle twitch or a slight up and down motion off the bottom. Also, depends on what they are fishing for, if fish are finicky the extra-fast tip can help with feeling even the lightest of bites. I personally, fish with extra-fast action rods because I fish in the estuaries with very light jig heads and soft plastics. The action allows me to feel everything, including when seaweed hits my line and covers my bait, when I bounce off of the bottom, or when a fish noses my bait. There are just as many disadvantages though all depending on what you are fishing for and your method of fishing. For example, if you are fishing for black fish an extra-fast action rod would not benefit you at all, it would make it very difficult to hook into the black fish when they hit.
