Tony Maja's Bunker Spoons are ready to use right out of the package and have been designed for maximum success. The spoons are made of extra heavy gauge stainless steel which makes them work at a greater depth with less wire or line and with only one keel. The action of Tony Maja's spoons have been designed to swim subtler than other spoons and the 9/0 stainless bucktail hook gives them a more life-like swimming action which increases the hook up ratio with virtually no foul hook-ups.
Tony Maja Custom Stainless Steel Bunker Spoons can be trolled with wire, braid, mono and even on down riggers. For best results try to troll Tony Maja's spoons 5 feet from the bottom or 5 feet under schools of bait. Speed is important, but the tip of your rod should give you a good idea of how your spoons are working - there should be a steady pulsation on the tip of the rod. If not, you may have to increase or decrease your speed.

Over long periods of use, the screws securing the keel may loosen do to the vibration of the spoon. Periodically check the screws to be sure they are tight. Liquid thread adhesive may be used for a tighter seal.

Great trophy Striper lure
Consistently catch large strippers on the #4 spoon. Works best on wire line with banker spoon rod. Very effective
ProsIt just works
ConsSome people struggle dealing the wire, but it gets fish when nothing else is

Tony Maja Spoon No. 4
Personally wire lining isnt my favorite technique, but you really can't beat wire lining bunker spoons when there are bunker holding in your area. i've used other spoons and have had success but i like the Tony Maja because i don't have to tweek them too much to get that right action. definitely spray lock tight on screws
Prosheavy metal doesnt bend

The Best Spoons I have ever used.
Most large bunker spoons are too big and sweep too wide to be trolled with a Mojo buck tail. This size MAJA spoon is perfect! It tracks perfectly and does not get tangled up.
Pros1 - Durable with Heavy Duty hardware. 2 - Tracks well. 3 - Looks just like a struggling bunker. 4 - They catch fish.
ConsNone.

Garbage construction
For all of the hype over this spoon, it was pathetic to receive it and see how it was manufactured. I had heard other complaints about the keels falling off even if threadlock was used. Well, this spoon arrived with two different screws barely holding the stripped out keel in place. One screw looked like it was the correct type and length machine screw but wobbled in the keel and wouldn't tighten because the keel was already stripped. The other looked like someone found a random screw lying on the floor and tried to use it. It looked like a very short, wide taper wood screw and was barely long enough to penetrate the keel at all. Loose enough to turn by hand and not long enough to get any more bite. A joke. I ended up using some small machine screws I had and used jb weld to try to cob the spoon together. Don't know if the jb weld will hold or not. Maybe this was a fluke and is the only Maja spoon that ever came out like this. I may end up catching dozens of fish with this very lure. I haven't actually tried to use it yet since I was on the water when I first opened it and realized I had a lure that I would have to take home and work on before I tried to fish it. All I know is I paid 35$ plus shipping for a lure constructed so poorly it couldn't be used.

Quality Lure
This Bunker Spoon is really well designed, and constructed. The action of this lure while fished with a bungee between the downrigger weight and the clip is perfect.

Decent spoon for the money
I have caught plenty of bass and blues on Maja spoons. While the spoon, hooks and split rings are great quality, the keel design and hardware are sub par. The keel weight hardware is just sheet metal screws that don't come threadlocked in. I have lost a fair share of keel weights even after threadlocking them in. A simple design change with molding a lock nut into the keel weight would make these a five star instead of a three.
ProsProduce big fish
Consexpect to spend money on keel weights to maintain these

Nice Spoon
Nice, quality product. I have trolled this spoon twice now and am really pleased with the action. Although I have yet to catch any fish with it. Maybe next time, it still beats working.

Trying bunker spoons?
For the first time. Remember that the odd numbered spoons have the same action as do the even number spoons so you can troll different sizes together and both will work well as long as they are both either the odd number or the even number (because the odds are a slightly different shape than the evens)
ProsWell made, proven fish catcher
