Avet Single Speed Reels
Avet single speed reels include industry leading features unlike any other reel on the market. Featuring an adjustable strike pre-set lever drag system, precision machined 6061-T6 aluminum and stainless steel components, 8 rubber sealed stainless steel ball bearings, stainless steel gears and Avet's smooth, powerful Avedrag dry drag system. Avet single speed reels are at the peak of quality and performance. All Avet single speed reels are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system. (except HXW)

Avet 2-Speed Reels
Avet 2-speed reels include all of the quality features of our single speed reels, with 2-speeds. The simple, yet reliable gear shift mechanism built into the 2-speed models is so easy to operate that it becomes second nature almost immediately. The push button located at the center of the handle arm permits shifting between the high and low gears without your hand ever leaving the handle knob, and can be shifted with or without pressure, so you can shift while cranking, or when a fish is running. All Avet 2-speed lever drag casting reels (SX-HX) are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system.

Avet M.C. Cast Anti-Backlash / Cast Control
Avet's revolutionary M.C. Cast (Magic Cast) adjustable magnetic anti-backlash cast control system is available as an option on all of their single and 2-speed casting reels, SX through HX, and is a standard feature on the Raptor Series Reels (excluding the HXW Raptor). The M.C. Cast control system incorporates Avet's Patented Adjustable Intensity Polar Amplification Technology to create the most efficient and easy to use cast control system for a conventional style reel. From the lightest bait to heavy lures, the M.C. Cast Control System is simple to use, even if you have never before cast a conventional style reel. Simply place your thumb on the spool to cast, swing, remove your thumb from the spool and let it fly! You will only need to thumb the spool when the lure hits the water.

Avet Raptor Series Reels
Avet Raptor Series Reels are the cutting edge in compact large game reels. These reels are consistently landing shockingly large fish in relation to their compact size. Designed for use with the ultra thin, super strong superbraid lines available today, it's now possible to target large game species with a reel half of the size and weight compared to a reel traditionally designed for similar monofilament line and drag capacities. And the Raptor has the drag and cranking power to back it up.

The Avet Raptor Series comes standard with Avet's innovative 2-speed gears, M.C. Cast control, and a ratcheting drag lever with a positive stop strike button to prevent accidental advancement past strike. Featuring Avet's patented DUAL DIRECT DRIVE Full Surface Caliper Brake System, Raptor models put out nearly twice the drag pressure of the original Avets! There's a Raptor model that will stop any fish in the ocean, yet small and light enough to cast. If you find a fish too big for a Raptor, you probably wouldn't want it near your boat! The Raptor Series reels are the same sizes as the original Avet reels, with enhanced line capacities, and each are engineered and built to fish several line classes heavier than the original Avet Reels.

Look no further for your next reel
Look no further for your next reel i have a nice MX I use for fluking. Spend the extra money for the Magic cast, its worth the price difference and is less hastle. if you have people who are not experienced fishermen use your gear as guests MC is great.

This reel is smooth and tuff. Best reel I've ever bought. Really cranks in the hogs from the bottom and can be used for trolling as well. My crew love them.

Raptor supreme
I purchased an MXL Raptor from TD and it has become my grouper reel of choice. Paired with a MH Tallus this reel can bring anything up off the bottom. This is the perfect 80 pound braid to 80 pound leader reel for bottom fishing the Gulf. Also serves well for fishing mangos. These MX size reels are the optimal size for my hands, still small enough to easily palm but big enough to handle just about anything on the bottom. Once you go to an Avet reel, you'll never go back to anything else. If you fish in the Gulf and you can only have 2 conventionals then the MX and SX would be the 2 you couldn't go wrong with.
ProsEverything from drag to the weight
ConsNot the smoothest reels out there but smooth enough.

Real world spectra line capacity
The MXJ raptor holds just over 400 yards of 50 lb. Izorline spectra with room for short 40 lb. fluorocarbon top-shot, which is more than enough given the line class!

HULK green and just as incredible
When this first arrived, it didn't feel very smooth reeling right out of the box. After playing around with it for a short while, it seemed to break in and now reels nice and smooth. When I brought it into spool up at the bait shop where my friend works, he was surprised how smooth my Avet was. Since he's only handled brand new Avets straight out of the box, he thought they were just gritty feeling. There feels like there is plenty of drag and I'm glad I didn't spend a bit more on the Avet MXJ raptor. The 2 speed is awesome too.

1st day with reel
Bought it went and had 65 jerry brown line top shot with 40 mono. Took it to the surf and landed a 5ft shark. Reeled it in with ease, reel felt so smooth fighting him. I was questioning the line capacity and what I wanted to use it for. Well im very satisfied.

Top notch reel!!!!!!!
I have owned this reel for about two years now and it is the best all around reel I own I use it for surf fishing, boat fishing and pier fishing the power of this reel is amazing and very smooth I recently ordered a sx raptor as well. I own several avet reels and have never had a problem with any of them they are very well made and easy to service I do a lot of fishing year round in south texas I have caught sharks up to six feet with this reel and landed them with ease I have also caught jack crevalle over 40 inches no problem if I had to choose one reel out of the many reels I own it would be the avet raptor. Just rinse it off after each trip like the avet website recommends and service it once every couple months depending on the amount of use and it will not let you down.
ProsGreat quality Strong smooth drag Mag cast, 2 speed Very durable Easy to service Great size easy to handle

hi I'm looking for a reel that will handle anything I might come across from a pier and inshore fishing will this mkl do or is it overkill ?
1 Answers
The mxl would be overkill from the pier unless your targeting shark, from a pier and inshore a avet sxj would work.

Hello, I recently purchased this reel and had it spooled with 65# braided line. Can anyone tell me what would be a good rod to go along with it? I plan on using it for Dorodo, Tuna, and Wahoo, Halibut, and Rock Fish. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
1 Answers
Go with the Shimano Terez rod SHM-1642. It is a 7' rod rated for 50-100 pound braid.
