Daiwa SALTG14000-XH Saltiga Spinning Reel

Following in the path set by its predecessors, the Daiwa SALTG14000-XH Saltiga Spinning Reel sets a new precedent for spinning reel capability in big game environments. Packed with more technology at the forefront of the industry than ever before, the 25 Saltiga raises the bar in terms of performance, power, and reliability to help turn angler's dreams into reality. To exceed the lofty expectations set by previous generations, Daiwa has abandoned the idea of improving upon the existing line of Saltiga Spinning Reels, and has completely rebuilt the 25 Saltiga from the ground up.

Core technologies such as the all-aluminum Monocoque Body and the oversized G1 aluminum alloy drive gear have made a triumphant return, while new innovations such as POWERDRIVE ENGINE and POWERDRIVE ROTOR serve to enhance fighting power and rotational operability to new heights. This new generation sees a complete overhaul in the drag system. Model sizes 1800 and above feature the innovative DRD Drag Mechanism. This newly designed system incorporates eight metal rollers mounted on a plate, effectively reducing brake degradation caused by friction heat. This ensures consistently smooth drag engagement, even during prolonged fights. As to be expected, the use of MAGSEAL magnetic oil waterproofing a key points keeps the reel's internals protected from water intrusion, maintaining that like-new performance. Together, these sources of innovation, along with tried and true Daiwa technologies, serve to pave the way for improved performance of larger spinning reels moving forward.

POWERDRIVE DESIGN

Representing the foundation of the next-generation large spinning reel, POWERDRIVE DESIGN was crafted to empower anglers with confidence when targeting the world's largest fish. It focuses on delivering unmatched performance and reliability. This innovative design is built around two key components.

The first is POWERDRIVE ENGINE, a core body element that ensures high efficiency and powerful retraction force. POWERDRIVE ENGINE makes use of Daiwa's OVERSIZED POWER DIGIGEAR; an enlarged and reinforced gear design with optimized tooth surface shaping. This significantly enhances gear efficiency and provides superior winding power. Also utilized within this concept is ROLLER POWER OSCILLATION, which works to achieve a more sensitive initial movement response and smooth winding experience by using ball bearings in the axis mechanism to significantly reduce friction resistance.

Second, is POWERDRIVE ROTOR, consisting of multiple systems that provide a spherical rotating base that combines both exceptional rigidity with low inertia for responsive and effortless rotation. Part of this system includes CRANK POWER BAIL, which reinforces the strength of the line loop's opening and closing mechanism. Its curved design ensures precise line delivery to the roller, while effectively preventing accidental opening and closing operations. TOUGH LINE ROLLER SYSTEM redesigns the roller's support structure and shape to improve durability, minimize damage-related issues, and enhance stability.

Together, these technologies deliver exceptional rigidity, strength, and durability, making them ideal for casting and jigging in pursuit of large fish. POWERDRIVE DESIGN was cultivated for anglers who embark on ambitious fishing adventures, providing the confidence and performance needed to face some of the most challenging saltwater environments with spinning gear.

OVERSIZED POWER DIGIGEAR

Crafted from super-hard G1 aluminum alloy, the 25 Saltiga's main gear achieves exceptional strength and reliability. Building on this foundation, the gear boasts an approximately 10% larger diameter and 6% greater thickness. The oversized design minimizes gear distortion during prolonged, high-load fishing battles, ensuring a consistently tight and stable gear engagement. This stability prevents power transmission loss under intense pressure. Additionally, the significant reduction in power transmission loss delivers a smoother and lighter winding experience, ensuring long-lasting and stable performance. The OVERSIZED POWER DIGIGEAR exemplifies efficiency and durability, empowering anglers to confidently face intense fishing challenges with ease and precision.

ROLLER POWER OSCILLATION

ROLLER POWER OSCILLATION delivers exceptional smoothness through advanced rolling technology. During extended battles with large fish, the friction within the central shaft during retrieval often causes power transmission loss. To address this, the design upgrades the traditional sliding column mechanism to a dual ball bearing system, enhancing swing efficiency by approximately 30%. This improvement ensures smooth and responsive initial movements, even under heavy loads, while providing a lighter and more powerful winding experience. Along with improved winding efficiency, ROLLER POWER OSCILLATION decreases wear and tear on internal components, making it a valuable asset for those facing the intense challenges of hard charging fish on a regular basis.

TOUGH LINE ROLLER SYSTEM

To handle the demands of repeated high-load operations, the newly designed roller features an expanded support area and integrates seamlessly with the wire gauge arm. This design eliminates potential looseness in traditional connection points, significantly enhancing the system's durability. Additionally, the roller, specifically optimized for PE line, reduces friction resistance between the roller and the fishing line, ensuring a smoother and easier winding process. This innovation boosts rigidity, durability, and resistance to failure, resulting in a robust construction capable of meeting the rigorous requirements of demanding fishing conditions.

DRD DRAG SYSTEM

The new DRD drag design has been developed to withstand the prolonged and intense pulling forces associated with large fish, effectively addressing issues of wear and overheating under high drag pressures. Unlike traditional systems that rely on carbon fiber pads, DRD incorporates an innovative pad featuring eight metal rollers mounted on a metal substrate. This advanced design significantly reduces the drag performance loss caused by frictional heat, enhancing durability to over five times that of conventional carbon fiber. Additionally, it improves the brake's sliding characteristics, delivering exceptionally smooth initial movements, making it ideal for extended battles with big fish.

Please Note: DRD Drag System is featured on model sizes 18000, 20000, and 25000 only. Model sizes 8000, 10000, and 14000 feature Daiwa's ATD TOUGH Drag.

MONOCOQUE BODY

First seen in the 2020 Saltiga, Monocoque Body (MQ) represents a robust and durable innovation in reel design. Traditional spinning reels rely on a body and cover secured by multiple screws to support both ends of the transmission gear. The MQ design eliminates the body cover, instead integrating high-precision plates directly into the body. This enhances the support accuracy of the transmission gear while significantly improving rigidity and sealing performance. Additionally, by repurposing the space previously occupied by screws, the MQ design allows for the transmission gear to be maximized in size, optimizing performance and efficiency.

MAGSEALED

MAGSEALED is Daiwa's proprietary waterproof technology. It utilizes a magnetic oil film between the body and the shaft to effectively prevent the entry of seawater or dust. This non-contact design ensures smooth rotation by eliminating friction between the body and the rotating shaft. As a result, the reel retains its smooth operation and near-new performance even after prolonged use. The 25 Saltiga features MAGSEAL at both ends of the pinion, the roller, the drive gear, and the line roller.

LC-ABS SW

Building on the smoothness of the original LC-ABS technology, LC-ABS SW introduces a two-stage tapered structure. The upper section of the line cup features a dual-slope design oriented toward the fishing line loop, effectively reducing friction between the spool's deeper diameter and the released line. This innovation delivers a smoother line release, significantly improving pay-off performance, particularly in the latter stages of casting. It is especially beneficial when using large-diameter, thick lines, increasing casting distance for anglers seeking to reach fish off in the distance.
