Good Leader for the Money
June 5, 2020
I use this leader for trolling inshore on some of the farther out locations (20 to 40 miles) off of OC, MD where I stand a chance of hooking up something larger. I have not had a leader failure with this brand.

Good line

I use the 80# to splice my top shots. I'd give it 5 stars if it was packaged on a spool. It can be a pain to uncoil if you're not careful. I wish it was offered in high viz colors for trolling top shot applications.
ProsGood, strong line
ConsPain to uncoil

Thinner diameter fishing line
August 21, 2019
I have used this leader for bluefin tuna fishing. It is thinner than most leader but still very tough. Easily handled 100 lbs bluefin tuna.
ProsThinner diameter but tough.

Jinkai Leader

I have used them all but always find Jenkai best. The 250 leader is small diameter and I use this for the big Blue Marlin and never have a problem with leader.

Great but...
October 18, 2018
I used this leader for both top shot and smelling my hooks up.
First, i use this 50lb leader for blackfishing, i found as a top shot it was great. Easy to splice, line isn't bulky for 50, rolls through guides nicely, flexible - not that real stiffness feel alot of leaders give, abrasion resistant. I love the stretch, just the right amount for what i like, but as for the leader smelled to the hook. I didn't care for it. I found if the current was running strong, due to a lighter feel for a heavier line (perhaps), my crab was pigtailing my hook. For jigging, i love this line, but bait Fishing where im exposing it sitting still in the current - it didn't work. I'll continue to use as a top shot though
Fyi- tog fishing in currents where 8-10oz are needed, half crab or whole crab on single hook rig, this was an issue just a few times
ProsFlexible Casts beautifully Knots easier than anything else I've used Abrasion resistant

What is the typical breaking strength of new line?
1 Answers
Hello Raymond. The breaking strength of new line is exactly as it is labeled by the manufacture. If it is 50 pound test, then in a new state it's breaking strength would be 50 pounds and so on and so forth. It also depends on the conditions in which you are fishing and what tackle you may be using. I hope this helps and as always please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!

What reel would be recommended for this line?
1 Answers
Hello Raymond. The reel used with this leader would all depend on your particular situation. Where and what you would be fishing for would dictate what exactly you would need. This high test leader coil typically requires a larger reel. Please feel free to contact us with your particulars and any other questions you may have!

What are the options for adding swivels or other connecters to the ends of the leaders and how do they attach? What fastners or knots???

For a leader this size "920lbs" you have no choice but to use a crimp. Jinkai size A is what works with 920lb, our internal code is "JIN-0101". You will also need a crimper to press the crimp. The crimper i recommend for this size mono is the CH18 by Sea Striker, our code is "SSR-0007".
