Take one look at the Nomad Design Maverick and you'll know that you're looking at something very unique. The Maverick was born from the desire to create a lure that had a subtle splash with a massive body roll and wiggle at very slow speeds. The first thing you'll notice is the oddly shaped curve in its head. This cup on the lure's head along with air chambers going through the underside of the body will trap air as the lure dives into the water from a floating position, creating a bubble trail on the dive like no other lure on the market. This lure can be described as a hybrid between a popper and a walking bait, and can be fished as if it were either. A simple change in retrieval speed and style makes for a substantially different action in the water. The Maverick produces its best action when being fished with a long sweeping motion of the rod tip. By beginning the sweep with a quick jerk of the rod, the lure will dive subsurface and the air chambers will work their bubbling magic. The Maverick can also be fished in a more traditional "walk the dog" fashion or as a popper for a maximum display of bubbling action. The 230mm rough water sinking model can even be trolled. Fitted with super strong split rings and BKK treble or single hooks, the 68, 115 and 140 sizes can be fished out of the box with confidence, while the 230 sizes come unrigged allowing anglers to choose what hooks best suit their application. If you're looking for a versatile lure with an action that the fish have certainly never seen before, look no further, the Maverick is a must try!

Great for tuna on top water
May 22, 2021
This lure is great for tuna on top water. Its a very versatile lure. The best action with it is short pops, long strides and walk the dog. It seems to be very inconsistent doing long hard popping motions. Tangling with the leader often. Also the belly double hook will constantly get stuck on the side of the lure killing the action and hook up ratio. (Picture) Other than that the lure is very good at catching tuna.
ProsGood actions Versatile lure
ConsLong popping action is hard to do. Belly hooks will catch on the side of the lure.

More Brown Than Purple, but Still Great!

The quality of Nomad Design lures is unsurpassed. I want them all. Ha!

The Maverick has small holes that connect the popper style mouth to the sides. They are like gills. Bubbles are created when you give the lure a tug. I love it, and the fish do as well!

Interesting lure

I love all of Nomad Designs lures so i had to purchase the Maverick. I got this lure in the largest size for tunas and cubera snapper. This lure is difficult to cast at this size but has great action. This lure is also a good lure to be trolled. I would imagine that this lure works very well in the smaller sizes, therefore I give this lure a slightly higher rating than i would have. the large size does have bubble holes which are an awesome addition that adds create action and more commotion in the water.
ProsGood action Multiple sizes Bubble holes
Conshard to cast at the larger size

Last year I was turned on to the Nomad brand and can honestly say that I caught more and better fish because of it. I even loaned my Nomad lures out and helped buddies catch more fish!
This year I am adding to the arsenal and trying some new colors and styles.
The colors on this are amazing.
