12' 3/4-3oz and 1-4oz models
August 12, 2019
I love both of these rods. They are thin, light yet powerful and very sensitive. I can feel every bounce, bite and bump. I first bought the 3/4-3 for casting smaller bucktails, poppers, tins and such. I than bought the 1-4 just before the 2019 season, because of how much I like the medium power rod, for throwing heavier poppers, darters, metal lips and light to medium bait/bottom fishing. Last season I had the medium paired with a slammer 3 5500 and thats was a great set up. This season Ive paired up both rods with my conflict ii lc 5500 and 20lb braid and the distance is unbelievable. Okuma makes some great surf rods and I have a few of theirs now. I highly recommonded both them and their surf rods.
ProsLight, thin, strong, plenty of back bone, very sensitive, great for 5/8 and 3/4oz bucktails on the 3/4-3, to 3 and bait for the 1-4

For the Price, It Rivals the Daiwa SP Coastal Surf Rod, MOJO and Tsunami Airwave
July 31, 2019
I was skeptical of this rod at first but I am no more. This rod whips SP minnows further than Daiwa's SP Coastal, and it has a phenomenal backbone and rigid tip. It is comfortable, very light weight and a canon. I paired it with a BG8000 and 40lb J-Braid and this is a great combo.
To find a 12ft rod that handles 1-4oz this well is hard to find, let alone in this price point. I have had 0 wind knots as well. I recommend this rod, just go to the store, put it in your hands an you'll know how well it feels and casts. The sweet spot is 1-3 oz lures. However, this can cast 1/2 oz spoons incredibly far.
ProsCasts Far Durable Inexpensive Rivals higher priced rods

Snapped it within the first week. However the feel and response is quite well.
ProsReally light Responsive Good price
ConsSnapped within the first week Not recommended for lures more than 1 1/2 ounce on MH models although it rated well over that.

Best surf rod, bang for your buck!

I picked up the 10' Medium/Light action, rated 1/2 to 2oz. I love this rod. Super light, and the reel position is perfect for slingin a lure a country mile. I'm going to be buying an 8' and 12' as well. For $100, you won't find a finer rod.
ProsReel position is perfect. Guides are great. Super light.
ConsNone. Zip. Zero. Zilch.

I do not see this model (and others in this series available on this website) on the okuma websites. Why do you have models here that they don't list? Can you get a weight for this model please? What lightweight reel around under 200 bucks would you recommend (20 lb sufix 832) to go with this for a lightweight set up, throwing light jigs, plugs and live bait with a Carolina rig from the beach (surf perch/smelt/striped bass and the occasional halibut)? It's important that the reel withstand salt and sand. Thank you.

This is the 2017 model(Okuma only has the 2018 models on their website). We are currently out of stock but can order this rod for you but currently can't get a weight. The 4000 or 5000 Shimano Stradic FK would pair up well with that rod for a lightweight setup.
