As the leader in delivering best-in-class spinning reel performance to anglers of all levels, Okuma Fishing Tackle’s all-new Raw II saltwater spinning reels once again raise the bar. Constructed from a proprietary, highly corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy and featuring Okuma’s Dual Force Drag system with a completely carbon fiber drag stack, Raw II spinning reels take on both the toughest species and harshest environments.

Traditional aluminum alloys rely upon their anodizing to protect them from the corrosive properties of saltwater. Much of the effort in the industry has been placed upon furthering the resistance of the coatings to salt, rather than focusing on the weaknesses of the base material. Raw II spinning reels showcase the release of Okuma’s proprietary T480 aluminum alloy. A completely new, completely unique aluminum alloy, non-anodized T480 shows zero structural damage after 480 hours of continuous saturated salt spray, a timeline on which standard aluminums reach the point of catastrophic failure

Further protected by an anodized base layer, a painted surface layer and the Okuma Corrosion Resistant Coating process, Raw II spinning reels deliver a lifespan many times longer than traditional aluminum, providing avid anglers an aluminum frame and all-aluminum rotor system that will last a lifetime.

Reel Seat Issue
Purchased this reel (RawII 80) and a Shimano Tallus to pair it up with. When i went to put this reel on the rod i couldn't get the reel seat on the reel into the reel seat on the rod. I was able to get other spinning reels to fit onto the rod no problem. It appears that the top flange of the reel seat on the reel may be too wide. (my guess I'm no expert). I did reach out to Okuma, via email, regarding this issue to see if they have heard of this before. Okuma called me back several hours later which i was very impressed by. They informed me that the reel is built per specification and that they haven't heard of this before and that my best bet is taking a file to the reel seat on the rod to make it fit. My review is based on the fact that it wouldn't fit on the rod i purchased to pair it with. Not on the functionality of the product. I haven't used the reel on the water yet but i do like how the power knob comes standard on the 80.

From the beginning this reel functioned perfectly. The only problem I would say is the water gets in this reel really easily compared to others but if one could maintain it dry and clean every so often it is a good reel. But the drag is amazing as long as no water enters. I fish in Puerto Rico so the weather is usually pretty nasty and I had the reel for over 2 years and used it 3 times a month.
Pros- Drag - size of reel compared to line capacity - weird knob but actually liked it - good bail

Why does the listing only show Mono capacities and not Braid. Is it because the reel can't handle braid?
1 Answers
Hello Bill. These reels can handle braid just as well and they can handle mono. Below is a chart that shows you some conversions between the two lines to give you an idea of what these reels can hold!

can this reel be used to bottom fish with 16oz weights constantly??

With that much weight, we recommend using a conventional reel. However, the RAWII-80 should be able to handle the weight.

Had a pre-paid trip out of H&M landing that was waiting to be used and I saw the opening on the LEGEND and took it, knowing the fishing has been good and the weather even better. It’s been a while since I’ve sent... Read More
