I had this rod for a while now. I've caught everything from Rock Cod to Yellowtail. I paired it up with a Lexa 400 and had a solid combo for throwing swimbaits and could easily use it in a pinch for live bait. I landed a 25lb Yellowtail on this rod. It has a sensitive tip and has backbone. However my tip recently broke on this rod and I wasn't rough on this rod. Disappointed with the durability.

I got one of these rods just out of curiosity since I heard so much about them. First day out on a yellowtail trip I landed a 37 pounder. This rod paired with a Lexa 400 win landed a 37 pounder yellow with no issues. The tip is very sensitive and can feel every little tug, I can even feel my live bait tapping. Plenty of backbone for lifting power very comfortable in my hand, light weight. I was able to whip out casts with ease. I totally recommend this rod for any inshore adventure you go on.
Prosall around perfect inshore rod

Could the 8'6 rod handle YFT and BFT. Up to what size?
1 Answer
None of these rods we would recommend for Tuna fishing. Some of the heavier models may be able to handle a few yellow fins, however steer clear from inshore rods when looking. If you like Okuma check out their PCH custom line. Specifically anything 7ft H or XH will be the perfect rod for yellow fins and blue fins. Depends on the reel that you will pair with it however check out this model:
