Great Reel.. Very Lite and Smooth..!
September 14, 2019
I have a multitude of different Penn reels and like all the rest this one did not disappoint. very lite and smooth, and it seems like I don't have near as many wind wraps when using braid. I have it paired with a St. Croix 7' Med. Mojo yak rod and I love this thing more and more every fish a catch on it.

Great saltwater reel

The Penn Conflict II is very lightweight so fishing all day is no issue. Smooth as silk, I know own 2 of them and will purchase these again.
Pros
  • Smooth drag
  • Lightweight
Cons
  • None

Super Light Reel
October 13, 2021
I like this reel for the price point. fits a good amount of line, sleek all back look, extremely light. The only thing I don't like is the handle. I have the 4000 size and just caught my PB redfish on it.

This reel is very smooth and comfortable and is in my top three spinning reels along with the Penn Clash and Stradic.

Very light for a Penn

Penn Reels are usually on the heavy side but not this one. A relative of mine has one and I was pretty impressed at how light it was but how stout the reel was at the same time.

Nothing like a shimano but had lots of strength the one bad thing is that it is hard to turn with high tension
Pros
  • Light

Not for me
April 25, 2020
I had a 5000 but was too big to fit in the reel seat that had a different 5k size reel. The handle was too short for me as well, but that might just be a preference thing.

Not like other Penn’s
January 18, 2020
Love Penn reels but not crazy about this one. Have had other penn reels all my life(60 years) and never had one get tough to reel. This one after only one year of use got tough to crank with a fish on. Took it home and opened it up to find minimal grease inside it. Cleaned and degreased. Seams to be ok now but I am a little concerned. Will not buy this feel in future, will stick to other penn reels.
Pros
  • Light weight
Cons
  • Gets hard to crank

Junk

Line roller dose not roll. The first thing I noticed was the reel turned unreasonably hard with just the slightest tension on the line. Found that the line roller dose not roll as it should. There is no roller bearing. Just a plastic bushing. This reel is not usable.

Love the Conflict

I own both the 3000 and 4000. The are both performing perfectly after a year of serious large mouth fishing. I like the black with carbon fiber trim. Penn is always reliable to me. Great upper end reel for not an enormous expense. They have the rubber on the spool to start with braid too.
Pros
  • Durable, reliable, great function. Price is good relative to quality.
Cons
  • OK, not as smooth as shimano but, also not priced as high.

Very Nice Reel

I use this reel for saltwater fishing and the carbon body and stem will not be subject to the corrosion that I have experienced with other reels. It is light weight and very smooth. I expect to get years out of this reel

Great reel
February 11, 2019
This is the 2nd Penn Conflict II spinning reel I have purchased. When you take this reel out of the box you will like the aesthetics, being entirely black it looks great paired with a custom redfish rod. When you turn the handle the reel feels well balanced, not as good as Shimano Stradic Ci4, but still really nice. Where this rod really excels in when you have a fish on and there is tension on the line. The feel doesn’t change, so even though not as smooth as other reels, when put to the test it works flawlessly. One year of abuse, in saltwater kayak fishing, and still going strong.
Pros
  • Price
  • Aesthetics
  • Feel of reel under load
Cons
  • Not as smooth as other reels

So far so good
January 26, 2019
I have only fished with it a few times and so far so good. Only thing I don’t like about it is the foam handle, wish it was rubber. I have it paired up with a 7’4” curado medium spinning rod and it is really light. Plan to use it in the surf for lures (when it warms up a bit!) and for long casting popping corks.
Pros
  • Super light and smooth retrieve.
Cons
  • Handle grip needs to be upgraded. I assume it is the way it is to reduce weight.

Is this a left or a right handed reel?
