Performance Backed Blank Technologies
Shimano incorporates both Spiral X and Hi-Power X technologies into the rod blank of the Outlier series, creating a blank that has top-tier compressional and torsional rigidity. Hi-Power X technology involves wrapping carbon tape up and down the length diagonally on the blanks outermost layer, reinforcing its twist resistance. The tape creates a visually noticeable "X" pattern that can be further refined with its winding angle, width, and specific location on the blank. Precise actions and strength are added for the more technique specific needs of the intended target species. Spiral X technology is made up of three layers, an inner and outer layer of Infinity Tape are tightly wound in opposite directions, with a layer of vertical fibers known as muscle carbon is in-between. The Infinity Tape cuts much of the weight needed to achieve the same strength as the traditional horizontal fibers, all for superior torsional rigidity and overall hoop strength. Ultimately both technologies work together enhancing casting accuracy and control for throwing big baits, with all the power needed to take on large fish.
