The highly innovative Shimano Trevala Jigging rod series is designed to be fished with the deadly Shimano Butterfly jigs, which were developed from an extremely productive Japanese-style jigging system. These are powerful, lightweight and light-action rods to be used with high speed, high power reels (such as a Shimano Trinidad Narrow or Stella).
TC4F ConstructionTM
Shimano has engineered the next generation of TC4 construction. This new construction uses a high carbon butt section and fused together with a TC4 tip section. This new blank design gives you the pulling power of TC4 but with less weight and increased sensitivity. You will also notice a much faster recovery rate, which will increase the jigging action.
  • Shimano High Modulus TC4F Construction
  • New Concept Fuji SIC guides
  • Fuji reel seat
  • Black diamond foregrip
  • Custom shaped reargrip
  • Aluminum gimbal on selected rods

honestly a great rod
I have two of them paired with Van Staal VS200s, 30lb seagar florocarbon. Best rod for pulling up reef donkeys before the sharks can get them.
ProsStrong rod that can take a lot of abuse from fish and fisherman alike. Ive had them for 5 years and they work like new.
ConsPricing, not a huge fan of the compress foam handle

Very versatile, it can be fished with a lot of different lures in addition to the butterfly jigs.
ProsGood value for the money, limited lifetime warranty.
ConsShimano's spec. for its line and lure ratings are over-rated. This is basically a ML rod.

I am looking for a spin rod I can use jigging in Florida for grouper and for trolling for large striped bass in NE using a Penn 8500hs reel. Could this rod do both of these tasks ? Is there a better alternative ?
1 Answers
This rod would work well for both styles of fishing, just some people don't like to troll with a spinning rod. That is all preference.

Can you help me understand the differences between TFS58xxh and TVs58xxh? I plan to use the rod for jigging off a kayak--off the cost of Florida and Pacific Coast of Panama. Thanks for your time and expertise
1 Answers
The difference beaten the 2 rods are jig weights are a bit different. If you plan on using heavier weights in the or plugs, i would recommend using the TFS58xxH.

match a reel to this rod?
1 Answers
For this rod, Shimano's Stella would be ideal. But, I know that it is on the high end as far as pricing goes. For a more affordable reel that would fit this rod well please take a look at Shimano's Saragosa... It can hold a lot of line at a high pound test which would match what this rod is rated for. Also, it has a high max drag at 44lbs and it has a fast retrieval at 45 inches per crank. If you have no budget, than please look at the Twin Power SW along with the Stella.
