Spiral X Construction consists of multiple layers of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions, enhancing torsional and compression rigidity without adding extra weight. Aftco Curved Unibutt
Constructed of the finest marine grade alloy aluminum, the Aftco Curved Unibutt serves as the stable platform that both reel and rod blade easily secure to. Through Aftco's unique "swaging" process, the aluminum butt is "unitized" to the reel seat, creating a connection which maximizes strength with minimum weight. The aligning pin-plug gimbal and fixed hook are locked in permanent alignment so that the gimbal, reel, and rod guides always align up exactly. The ferrules are precision-machined for complete interchangeability with rod tip sections, and an O-ring on the ferrule prevents corrosion between the ferrule and the reel seat. A Teflon ring inside the collet nut assures snug fit, prevents galling, and allows for easy removal of the nut.
