Great Rods
November 27, 2020
This is my 6th tidemaster and they are awesome rods. Paired a 7'6"H with an accurate tern300 for inshore bottom fishing. Feels like its going to be a perfect match for flounder, seabass, tog, and other bottom dwellers.

The Tidemaster is my favorite rod. The TIC66MHF didn't let me down. First day fished......stripers didn't have a chance. Perfect for my use from a kayak tossing plastics on jig heads. Quality is exceptional and rod was flawless in performance and cosmetically.
ProsReasonable price for what you get in quality. Feels great in your hand with very responsive action.

Go to Kayak Rod
March 11, 2018
I use the 3/4-2 rated rod as my go to kayak rod, i have it in both spinning and casting. I am primarily targeting bottom fish but on the occasion blues or stripers get in the mix this has the power to handle them as well. I have this paired with an abu 6500.

St Croix Tidemaster
September 13, 2016
I have 8 of the tidemaster rods in two different models. After I figure out the right one for what I'm using them for and get the right reel to balance them, they are perfect for what I do. The action is true to the description, weight, durability, looks, all are very good. Some are 10 years old with a lot of use and are in good shape with proper care.

Good for Light Surf and Inshore
January 7, 2016
This is my first St Croix rod and it's very nice. I like that it has stainless steel guides so should be durable in the salt and surf conditions. I am actually using it as surf casting rod and it's working quite well for that.
Very fast action and extremely good back bone. If you dislike whippy rods, this is the one to get. I am certainly going to give this a workout in the spring. Already caught several blues and a trout on 2 oz spoon.

Will a Shimano Tranx 301HG or Torium 16HG be a good match for this rod?
1 Answer
Both of these reels would pair wonderfully with the Tidemaster.

I would recommend the Tranx for most inshore or shallow water applications and the Torium for deeper water more offshore geared bottom fishing trips

Would the TIC70MHF match well with a Shimano Tranx 400. Looking for a light weight set-up for casing to striper (10-20lb), albies, etc? Thanks
1 Answer
Yes, this rod is a perfect application for that. Even a the Medium power rod would work great and give you more of a fight.

Would the TIC80HF pair well with a diawa lexa 400 for casting large swimbaits and poppers for mahi and blackfin tuna?
1 Answer
A Lexa 400 would certainly be sufficient for that application. I'd say the TIC80HF would work well for casting swimbaits that weight within the rods lure weight rating of 3/4 to 3 oz. If the swimbaits or poppers you'll be using exceed 3 oz. I'd suggest a heavier power rod such as the Shimano Teramar Northeast model number TMCE76H.
