Great Fishing Rod!
July 29, 2022
I've had the chance to use this Fishing Rod several times now and am extremely pleased.
This replaced my ancient Abu Garcia Surf Casting rod that had been my favorite for years.
The best part of my purchase was the price. I think I got more than my money's worth.

Thank you, Tackle Direct for an easy-to-navigate and straightforward website and an Excellent selection!

Only surf rods I deal with
May 6, 2020
Have 3 of these and had one broken due to closing my trunk on it. These rods are light, cast a mile if you know how and strong. Have caught everything from redfish, bluefish, mackerels, pompanos and even croakers on these. Do yourself a favor and dont go cheap and go with these!

have used the rod for the past four years and it has lasted threw being dropped on the rocks and ever falling and it slammed into the sand. it casts very well and is very duriable when fighting big striped bass in the canal.
  • great casting and has good feel when pared with 30-50lb braid
  • needs a hook hold

12 foot heavy airwave
October 1, 2019
Great casting rod however I have broke two of them casting a 3 ounce weight with small bait and 30 lb braid. Pole is definitely over rated. Tsunami has replaced one for free so far.
  • Casts long distance with ease.
  • Way over rated pole.

TSAWSS-1102H - Excellent Rod for the Price
June 13, 2019
I have paired it with Ultegra 5500. What a beautiful combo. Extremely light. Excellent to fish with bunker. I haven't tried plugging with it yet but it seems promising. For the money, it makes such an excellent beginner / backup rod.
  • Not expensive
  • Light but Strong.

Better than G.Loomis
March 13, 2019
G.Loomis is $600. Tsunami is $140. If I have all the money in the world I'd still pick Tsunami. It's LIGHTER, cheaper, better look, feels great. I fish for Stripbass 10-30 fish and these are best I found

12' H 4-6oz

Its very light compare to other 12', however it doesnt cast as far, and for $150 rod i expected the guides could be a little bit better, they scratch easily
Cape Cod
Snapped in half.
April 14, 2018
I had this rod in Nantucket and on my first cast, it snapped below the first eye. The rod looked great and felt solid, but that "lighter than air technology" did not hold up. I must have got a lemon so I won't give it 1 star. I emailed Tsunami and they never responded.
  • Looks cool
  • lightweight
  • Got a lemon I guess
  • The companies customer service is non-existent

I just got this rod to pair with STRADIC 5000 is 30 lbs braid to heavy a braid for this rod
1 Answer
Hello Robert,

Using 30 # braid on the Tsunami Airwave802mh should be fine and won't affect the guides or blank.

would like to know if an old 6500 series shimano baitrunner would pair up nicely with this surf rod or do you think the 9 ft would be better?
1 Answer
The 8ft would work. If you want better casting ability, i would go with the 9ft MH.

What spinning reel would you pair this up with. I fish the OBX and i have a Heaver, and a big 10 surf rod but I want something to cast smaller plugs in closer to shore. I've been told I should scout out a 8' med-heavy rod and a reel capable of holding about 200 yds of 8-12 lbs test line.
1 Answer
A Penn Spinfisher SSV 4500 would work well on that rod. I would put braid on it if you are looking for more distance. Another option would be Shimano reels, in the 5000-6000 size.
