Tsunami Carbon Shield II Spinning Rods are designed with Fuji K Guides with Fazlite inserts. Made with feather light IM7 graphite blanks with D16 nanotech and unique carbon fiber design. D16 Nanotech blank technology consists of multi-directional layers of IM7 carbon fiber that have been injected with nano resin and wrapped in 8 different angles which evenly disperse flexural force in 16 directions. This combination provides an extremely lightweight blank that resists twist and adds hoop strength. These rods make casting to, hooking, and fighting big fish as easy as it gets. Great choice whether you are casting soft plastics to striped bass in the northeast or using live bait for redfish and other inshore saltwater species in the south.

  • Anodized aluminum reel seat with stainless steel hoods and custom locking ring
  • Premium cork grips
  • Unique carbon fiber design
  • IM7 Graphite blank with D16 Nanotech
  • Fuji K Guides with Fazlite inserts

Great back bay rod, sensitive with plenty of backbone. Was a bit concerned about shipping to PA, but Tackle Direct did a great job and I received the rod quickly and undamaged
ProsLight, comfortable grip

Finesse with power
May 15, 2021
I have the medium light, it's perfect for throwing lures 1/4oz all the way down to 1/16th oz. It's got enough back bone to wrestle fish in the 20" range no problem. I have mine paired with a Shimano stradic fl 2500, added a geomexus power knob, the chrome reel and the chrome seat on the rod look really cool together.
ProsLight and strong, looks amazing.
ConsLure ratings not exactly accurate in my opinion, i wouldn't throw anything heavier than a 1/4oz

I love these rod and have had great success with them. They come at a great price point and have yet to disappoint.
ConsThe eyelets are very small for knots to ride thru but you get use to it very quickly.

Wish it lasted

This rod was great. Super sensitive but super strong, enough to handle 20lb drum. However the guides on this rod use inserts and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th guide inserts cracked or fell out after the 3rd time using the rod. The inserts become sharp enough to slice your line on cast. And forget trying to get in contact with the manufacturer. They are notoriously impossible to get a hold of.
ProsStrong, sensitive, pretty
Consguides break or crack, very hard to get guides replaced

Great all-around inshore rod
March 18, 2020
I purchased the 7'6"M rod and received it quick and in perfect condition. Always great packaging and shipping from Tackle Direct. I paired it with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 4000 w/ Daiwa 20lb X8 J Braid and used it over the weekend in Tampa Bay and Clearwater Beach. I caught spanish mackerels, magrove snappers, small gag groupers, sheepsheads, grunts, silver trout, and speckled trout. This rod handled them with ease. I was able to cast small 1/8oz jigs up to 1.5oz weights with no issues. I also hooked up to a HUGE jack...the rod itself did fine, but my reel was no match for it. Overall, I am very pleased with it and will be slaying many more fish with it.

Favorite inshore rod

I’ve used and abused two of these rods. Very sensitive tip which is awesome for sheepshead (you feel any and everything). I have pulled in 30 lb drum and jacks with these rods with no issues. Very lightweight and comfortable rod. I bought two and I’ll buy more. Also they look pretty sweet.

Looks cool but didn’t last the season
January 1, 2020
Bought the 7ft MH to use for fluking and inshore about half way thru this season. After about 7-8 trips the reel seat separated from the blank and started to twist. The fancy openings to allow you to see the blank at the reel never had a tight fit. Ended up having to fill in the cut out of the reel seat with rod building epoxy from mudhole using a syringe. Still not perfect but better than tossing.

Also, the butt of the rod has a metal disk instead
Of rubber or cork. Makes more likely to fall over when you lean it up against a wall
ProsLooks pretty
ConsReel seat separated

Great all-round rod

Be it 30 lb redfish or 2 lb trout, this rod provides excellent casting, unbelievable strength and is ultra sensitive. One of the finest off-shore rods I've ever picked up.
