FINS Windtamer is a 100% spectra braid, but with additional processing. Windtamer braid has been treated by means of a proprietary process resulting in a compacted round and smooth structure with a firm body. This enables FINS Windtamer to pack very well on reels without pulling into itself and cuts through the wind to cast without wind knots and rod tip wrapping. Saltwater inshore fishing is a situation where Windtamer stands out, particularly for those using bait casting reels.

FINS Windtamer Braided Fishing Line 20lb
May 8, 2017
The weather finally cooperated and I was able to get out and try my new rod and reel which I loaded with FINS Windtamer Braided Fishing Line 20lb. I was able to spool about 180 yds on to an Orra SX rell. The rod is a Berkley Inshore rated for 10-30 lb braid. I intend to use this as my all around light set-up for Fluke, Schoolies, Porgy, small Blues, Black Sea Bass, etc. First impressions: The Fins Windtamer is considerably stiffer than the 20lb Tufline XP, which I normally use. The line is quite slippery but I had no trouble tying knots which did not slip or come loose. On loading the line under resistance, the line did not dig in. Actual use: The wind was gusting 10 to 20 MPH, a typical spring day in Connecticut. Because I was unfamiliar with my new reel, I had several bird nests. Happily, the stiffness of the line made it fairly easy to untangle the bird nests. After I was able to get the reel dialed in, I was casting 1/2 to 3/4 ounce lures into and against the wind. The line casts well and exhibited very little line noise during retrieval. I purchased a green colored line to blend with the Long Island Sound waters. The green line is difficult to see against the water reflection. If you need to see your line, the pink colored line may be more to your liking. Over the course of next 2 hours, I made at least 100-150 casts and the line did not wrap around the tip or guides even once. If this was my old Tufline XP standby, I would have had at least 20 or more tip or guide wraps. Overall, my first evaluation of this line is 5 out of 5 stars. It's too early to tell if this line will continue to live up my expectations. Right now, it's anyone's guess as to how long the properties of this line will last. I do a lot of inshore fishing and intend to follow up on this review towards the end of the summer, after a season of use and abuse.
ProsNo tip or quide wraps, good knot holding, very little guide noise on retrieval

Not as Advertised
October 7, 2015
Purchased 300 yds of 40lb test for surfcasting. The line frays quickly and simply does not hold up. No more or less prone to wind knots than most braids. The worst feature is that it breaks easily at the point of a wind knot. Very frustrating.

Excellent line for any wind conditions. Strong and casts smoothly, does not twist. The line easily handles red fish and trout in south Louisiana.

Been fishing with braid since the late nineties, windtamer has been the most user friendly of all the different braided lines I tried. Could durability a bonus, have used line testing from 6 lb. to 300 lb.. The dreaded windknot has gone out of my vocabulary. Fish mainly salt in New Jersey and Florida. Dave g

Never had one backlash or windknot with this braid, I use it on my baitcasters and spinning reels and it's great for both applications!

Most twist resistant line for spinning reels I have used
March 12, 2015
I have tried many brands. I only fish lures, so I make a lot of casts. Also I fish daily (almost) so I need line I can count on to be able to keep searching for fish. This line is very supple and resists twisting nicely.
ProsNo line snarls from repeated casting
ConsAs I fish so much, the line tends to show wear at the point I hold it with a finger for casting.

Best Braid I've Used
February 18, 2015
The Fins braided line was recommended to me by a friend and local guide in my area. Was reluctant because I had tried braided line in the past but wasn't satisfied. Fell in love with the Fins Windtamer and have used nothing else since. Use it on all of my reels with no problems. Casting is great and sensitivity is unbelievable. Will take an incredible product to make me switch. Thanks Fins!!
ProsIncredible sensitivity and castability.

Long casts - fewer wind knots!
October 17, 2013
I purchased this line to replace some older power-pro. I spooled it on a couple Quantum Smoke 30 PTS's. It appears to cast longer than my old line, and I get less wind knots. I would recommend it to anyone, and I will purchase it again.

my go to braid for light applications
July 31, 2013
this is my go to braid for light inshore applications, not too pricey and the weave is rather tight (much like the sufix 832), one that doesn't burn a hole in your wallet and gets the job done!

FINS Windtamer Braided Fishing Line
June 26, 2013
I really enjoy fishing with this quality of fishing line, This line is so smooth and cast's like no other. The reason why I tired it was because of wind knot problems, I'm still having wind knot problems using this product but this line out performs others for the price.
