Polaris Popper
A Stan Gibbs classic popper that is one of the most copied plugs in the line. Its ability to fool big fish has been documented for years, and therefore has become a staple in most fishermen's surf bags.
Guide To Fishing Gibbs Lures
One of the all-time favorites in the Gibbs line and finished in a more traditional "Popper" fashion than the Pencil Popper. The key here is to vary the speed, even letting the plug come to rest on occasion. Impart only enough rod tip action to splash the water and create the audible "gurgle". The most common error in fishing Poppers is to overdo the rod action. Only a twitch is needed, as the sound will travel far under water.

BEWARE - Picture NOT representative!!!
Lure is great, a tried and true classic from Gibbs, BUT the ones TackleDirect shipped me DID NOT have the pictured bucktail!! These plugs had bare tail hooks. I grabbed the box from the UPS man, got out my 5 min epoxy to protect the bucktail winding as I do with all my bucktails, and when I went to seal the threads, there was nothing to seal! Not having the bucktail makes hookups tough since the hook gap size on these plugs is small to begin with.
ProsCast well Pops nicely
ConsWhat you see is NOT what you get!

Great old Popper
Gibbs has been making poppers for years, this is a great top water plug for Blues & Bass. I always have one or two of these in my surf bag. It is a great plug weather you are new to the surf or a surf regular!
ProsEasy to pop & splash, floats, good for long casts even when the wind is in your face.

The best popper
I can't find another popper as good as the Gibbs Polaris. (Super Strike comes close) Usually I stick with the White/Red Head but I've done just as well on yellow and a few others. I prefer the 2-1/4oz version
ProsCasts a mile great action
ConsDoesn't hold up super well after catching a ton of fish or pulling over rocks

A decent lure
It is a fairly well made lure, but somewhat basic by today's standards. Not much technology built into it. Casts well but not great. A good standby. I have not caught anything with it yet and of course that is the true measure of a good lure.
ProsInexpensive, fairly well made
ConsBasic, no internal beads, no oversized eyes or added splash? Intensifier.

all gibbs products are the best made plugs on the market. The only negative thing about gibbs lures are the hooks. change the the hooks and you have the best casting, popping, swimming lures out there. and the prices are reasonable
ive been fishing for over 37 years, ive purchased the top of the line plugs from the best of the best plug makers out there. And spent lures starting at 30 dollars and up. Some work great, unfort you have no idea how that plug or plugs are going to work. When i purchase a Gibbs plug i know i'm going to be happy with it. And there's nothing fancy about them, except i've caught more fish with them than any other plug out there..
Prosvariety of colors, weights and tons of differnt types to increase my catch
Consthe only issue i have with Gibbs plugsare the hooks. i have been lazy and didnt upgrade the hooks and i lost lots of quality fish. if Gibbs upgrated there hooks to vmc or a better grade hook, it would only make me love and trust the plug up with the best

3 1/2 oz Yellow Polaris Popper
Used a few times last fall during a false albie blitz from the beach, manage to catch a few. Easy to use in all water conditions, but best suited for moderate surf conditions.
ProsCasts very well, good action
