RIO manufactures two striped bass fly lines because water and air temperature can vary widely when striper fishing. During the cold early and late seasons, we recommend the water clear AquaLux striped bass line, with an intermediate sink rate. The water clear AquaLux fly line on single-strand monofilament is the most supple for wary stripers and water under 70 degrees. he AquaLux Striper line features a 4 foot long luminescent section 6 feet behind the rear taper that glows in the dark for night fishing when charged with a flashlight. The luminescent section shows the angler when there is the correct length of line out of the rod tip for maximum casting performance. When water and air temperatures are 70 degrees and higher, you’ll need a slightly stiffer coating and core. The translucent intermediate line is made of a stiff braided monofilament with a medium stiff coating that produces a moderately stiff fly line, used in 70 degree and higher water/air temperatures. A short front bullet taper and medium-length back taper propel large flies to stripers, bluefish, and seatrout.
