Sage was founded in 1980 with one idea in mind — to build the world's finest performance fly rods. Innovative rod design and the use of world-class materials helped Sage revolutionize the fly fishing world throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Now, more than 20 years later, Sage remains focused on one goal: to create fly fishing products that continually exceed the fly angler's expectations.
Step 1: Determine the species you will be pursuing and the size and type of flies you will be using. Generally, lighter line weights are for smaller flies and fish; heavier line weights are for larger flies and fish.
Step 2: Decide what type of rod action you prefer. Sage offers medium to fast action rods to suit many different types of anglers. Refer to the rod series chart below.
Step 3: Determine the type and size of water you will be fishing. Generally, shorter rods are used on smaller spring creeks and streams; longer rods are used in larger rivers, lakes and saltwater locations.
