The Van Stall VSB100 to the VSB250 spinning reels are the first Van Staal reels to feature a bail, and this one is made of titanium. The Van Staal VSB Bail Spinning Reels also have the wash-out slots in body and spool, an oversized stainless steel main gear and an oversized rotor clutch for continuous anti-reverse.
We know you fish hard, so titanium was the best choice of material to hold up in both strength and durability. A new skirted spool offers you huge line capacity and foul-proof line management. New, longer handle and machined power knob help to maximize the power and strength of this new Van Staal reel – even when using braided fishing lines. The VSB100 holds 320 yards of 20# braid, VSB150 holds 330 yards of 30# braid, VSB200 holds 400 yards of 40# braid and the VSB250 holds 490 yards of 50# braid. Use monofilament or braided line and know that for its size, no competitive reel comes close to offering the same line capacity – or strength. Van Staal's new, over-sized anti-reverse clutch proved to be so strong in our test lab, that it had our engineers cheering in amazement. This is by far the strongest clutch bearing ever used in a spinning reel. Like every Van Staal spin reel, these new bail reels are machined out of aircraft grade 6061-T6511 aluminum, and use stainless steel gears, titanium-nitride center shafts. Machined aluminum and brass are all used to construct the highest-performing, most durable saltwater reels on the planet. Also, just like every Van Staal spin reel, these are sealed water tight to keep sand, surf and corrosion out.

VAN STAAL VSB250 REEL & VJS58-325 ROD
December 11, 2012
Bought my first set of Van Staal VSB250 reel & VJS58-325 rod from Tackle Direct about two weeks ago. Went off shore tuna fishing and hit a few amberjack holes on the way out. This combo is perfect, light weight, strong rod with flex to give when the braided line want give an inch. The reel is the best purchase I have ever made, it is simply amazing on big fish! My 13 year old son used this combo to land several tuna and a 80+lb amberjack. The fish never had a chance! I bought two, but will be buying another set right away. I was not sure they were really worth the money, but now I am certain that the VSB250 reel is worth every penny!
ProsSmooth operation Drag system (amazing)
ConsI don't have but two of them, yet!
better than expected

I got it for my 40th birthday present from my husband. We thought initally they were beautiful reels but probably really over priced however so far it is worth the money!! The smoothest reel I was ever used and has an incredibile drag system. We use it mainly for free falling lines behind the boat which often get big kings and cobia as well as for jigging. I love it and we are already looking at another one so we wont have to share this one. The price on tackle direct couldnt be beat, not to mention no tax and free shipping and fast service. This is now our go to website, thanks!

Are these reels worth the investment?
If you are looking for a reel that is totally sealed and waterproof and will last a lifetime, then yes!
on June 12, 2012
The question, are they worth it? Let there be no doubt that they're worth it! Before I switched to Van Stall reels for my surf fishing, I went through many different big name reels. The brand name that starts with an "S", the brand name that starts with a "D" and several other high dollar products. They were all high maintenance and ultimately met an early demise due to saltwater and sand. Not the Van Staal's! I've been knocked over by waves, had my reels dunked and embedded in the sand and I simply washed them in the surf, shook them dry and continued fishing! How truly nice it is to have some reels that I very simply never have to worry about. Can you imagine having a reel that is totally maintenance free? Can you imagine having a reel and never even having to even look down at it? I'm saving my 'pin' money and I'm almost at my next one. It's an investment you'll never regret.

IS IT REALLY WORTH THE MONEY TO BUY ONE OF THESE REELS WHEN I THINK I COULD DO JUST AS GOOD WITH A WALMART OR BASS PRO SHOPS REEL?
This reel is a good option if you think you need a reel that needs to hold up to tough environmental conditions, such as swimming with the reel or dunking it in the surf.

I surf cast for stripped bass in New England. Which one should I be looking at?
That depends on the length of the rod you use. If the rod is 9'6' or less, go with the 150. From 9'6" to 12', go with either the 200 or 250.

im looking for a vs reel that i can use from mahi mahi all the way to tarpon fishing. Which VS Reel Would you recommend for me to use?
We suggest the 200. Plenty of drag and line capacity and a smaller, more comfortable reel. It will easily handle Mahi to Tarpon and all in between.
