Great New Rod
December 9, 2014
Just picked up two of the 7'6" med heavy inshore rods and matched them up with New Penn Battle II Reels. Awesome combo. Rods have sensitive tips and plenty of backbone. Landed 15lb Striper with no problem. Can't wait to go red fishing with them.
ProsBackbone and sensitivity at a great price.
ConsNot crazy about the rod butt. Took some getting used to but I do love the action and am becoming more comfortable with it the more I use it.

This rod can easily cast more weight than it is rated for, is very light, and has great feel. For the money, one of the best light tackle rods I've used.

Super good light rod
July 18, 2013
We use these rods for smaller stripers and spadefish. Perfect light tackle rods that are hard to break. The tips will break if you put a lot of awkward pressure on them, so keep that in mind. Other than that they're great
ProsSuper light and strong
ConsTip will break if you bang it against something.

i'll be goin down to FL here in a couple weeks and am looking to purchase a saltwater set-up. Mostly i'll be doing surf fishing and fishing at other places along the shore. also lookin at a Penn Battle 5000 reel, and just wondering if thats a good reel to combo this rod with. and what line woruld you spool on the reel ( i was thinking 20lb braid) and wondering if i would need backing on that or would it be okay if i just spooled the braid and attached a 30-40lb mono for a leader. In short i just wantto know if this is a good combo for the Fishing ill be doing.
Penn Battle reels are a great choice at that price point. I own a 5000 and love it. Combo with the 7'6" medium rod here and 15-25 lb mono
