I am a fishing charter captain and so far have used Daiwa, Penn, Quantum and Fin-Nor spinning reels. fin-nor spinning reels are by far superior. The gear system is smoother. the corrosion resistant is better and the drag system is superior.

Awesome spinning reel for big fish

I bough several of these for fishing in the South Atlantic and they are a great choice when you need an inexpensive reel that can handle serious fish. My target species for this fish includes jigging for grouper, tuna, and cobia as well as using this rigged with a pitch bait for billfish while trolling. With 60lbs of drag and plenty of line capacity I've never had to to worry much about not being able to turn a fish.
ProsSTRONG! This is reel feels very solid with no plastic crap built in. I know of commercial guys that use these every day because they are tanks. It also never hurts to know that if you hook up to something bigger than planned, you have extra drag in reserve. Just the other day I took some friends out for some fun with the butterfly jig and we each landed about 10 amberjack a piece most around 50lbs or greater. No problems working the fish and keeping them out of the anchor line and motors.
ConsThe anti-reverse in ratcheted and not infinite. Not really a big deal and only noticeable when you are doing very high speed jigging for smaller tuna. Once you hook up, not an issue at all.
