The Daiwa Eliminator Spinning Reels are built to provide big fish fighting power at an affordable price. They feature Daiwa's signature HardBodyz anodized aluminum frame and side-plate to provide the rigidity necessary to keep the oversized gears in line. The anodized aluminum frame reduces the possibilities of scratching and corrosion. The digi-cut gears will provide maximum cranking power while remaining smooth over time. The aluminum spool is outfitted with a rubber gasket and is braid ready.

Awesome little reel for the price. Matched it up to a 40 inch ice jigging rod for lake trout.

As good as BG6500 if you don't need waterproofing

The Eliminator 6500 is a great reel for the sale price that I got from TackleDirect. I also have the BG6500, and the feeling of operation for both reels is pretty much identical. This reel has felt washers instead of carbon fiber washers, and there are no built-in rubber gaskets anywhere to prevent saltwater intrusion (unlike the BG6500). The BG is also not a sealed reel by any means, but it withstood occasional splashes without any problem. I am very careful in protecting this reel from saltwater sprays with a reel cover on the boat while not actually fishing, and so far it's performing as well as the BG.
  • A bargain BG with identical feel.
  • No as saltwater resistant as BG. It should be lightly cleaned and lubed after each saltwater use.

Excellent light tackle reel

I wanted to fish a few times with this before writing a review. I am absolutely beyond happy with the performance of this reel. I have always been a Penn guy. I put this up against my Battle 3 DX 2500 and can say that this reel performs extremely well. Each has their own unique benefits, but I would put this up against higher dollar reels. My only "turn off" is the hex handle. I have a feeling that it will be the weak point of the reel in the end. A screw on handle would have been much more preferred.
  • Very light
  • Casts well
  • Smooth retrieve
  • smooth drag
  • Gorgeous aesthetics
  • Hex handle

Great inexpensive reel

Bought the 2500 to replace a cheap Daiwa D-Force reel. Much smoother cranking and the anti reverse made all the difference in the world. Perfect size for trout with 6lbs fluorocarbon line.

Big fish on a budget

Got the 4500. To me this is a big and heavy reel for a 4500 series. However, it is smooth and can take a lot of lne. The sale price justifies the purchase for those in tight budget.

Nice aesthetics and function

This is my second Eliminator reel, already have the 3000 now have the 2500 paired on a 6'6" M rod for light tackle saltwater. Keep in mind the 2500 is true to size but the 3000 is more like a standard 4000 size, Daiwa is apparently funky like that. Smooth drag on both, 2500 is more for light tackle inshore jigging/small plugs or freshwater fishing, 3000 can be paired with a 7' or even an 8' for light plugging duties. Reel is prettier, casts better and is more firm than you'd expect at this price point and is essentially a somewhat pared down BG. As a Shimano guy in general, for full price you're probably better off with a Sahara for maximum drag and refined feel, but this is definitely a solid buy overall.
  • Smooth drag
  • Casts well
  • Nice aesthetics especially at price point
  • Slight handle play

Good reel except for the handle.

Good reel for the price. Pretty smooth and cast. The reel is bendable and many times when I reel in the handle hits the reel. Still a decent price for reel.

This reel is Awesome, it's beyond smooth and has reeled some some big jack cravelle which you know fight like crazy. So far it gets 👍👍 ups. Don't see this opinion changing unless it just falls apart... Daiwi. Quality is too notch!

Great lightweight surf reel
August 26, 2020
I ordered the Eliminator in the 4000 size for my wife to use on her rockfish setup and it is the perfect size. We made a somewhat last-minute run to the CA coast, so I decided to re-spool with 15lb braid to do some surf fishing. This reel is perfect on a 9' 6" surf rod. It is very lightweight and casts extremely well. I pre-ordered a spare spool for it, but I may just order a second reel, so my wife can have hers back.
  • Lightweight, smooth drag
