Exactly What I expected
Lightweight, solid construction, seem durable and strong. Smooth casting, love the adjustment that can be made on this baitcasting reel. Exactly what I expected out of the Lexa HD.

Not Too Happy
I used this reel for one week-long muskie trip last summer - the high speed is great for moving bucktails and crankbaits quickly. Put it to bed over the winter by cleaning and lightly lubing. I fished for 1/2 a day this year and the reel bound up. After taking it apart I found the pinion gear has basically etched its way into the spool shaft which did not allow the gears to disengage when in freespool. When I called the repair shop that I order parts from, they told me that this was a common problem with this reel and at least one of the parts required to repair the reel was on 2 months backorder! Sorry, but when I spend this kind of $$$ I expect the engineering to be solid.
ProsHigh speed, nice handle.
ConsBad engineering apparently... the yoke/pinion gear/spool shaft are prone to catastrophic failure.

Performed as expected!
I purchased this for a recent trip to target Rooster. The majority of my fishing was off the beach and rocks. I knew if I hooked a solid fish I would need yardage or stopping power. This reel has both! I was able to load a little over 300 yards of 30# J-Braid. Fortunately I was able to turn the fish around with a smooth drag and retrieve landing my 1st Rooster. What I was really impressed with is the cast ability. Most larger spool, low pro baitcasters tend to lag because of the bigger revolution. This reel casts extremely smooth and precisely with exceptional distance allowing to site cast Mangrove and Jacks. I was a little apprehensive of the power handle size thinking it would be awkward to reel but once I got the work it felt very natural. It did come in handy enabling me to wench a solid Eagle Ray off the ocean floor. All though I would prefer a standard option of a paddle handle, the Eva foam is a nice touch. A side from the intial performance, this reel is sexy! The only thing I dislike was that the spool release button would sometimes engage in mid cast. This happened after a couple of days of use. It may be from some sand and grit the may have obstructed the mechanics of release or just operator error. Overall I'm pleased with the performance within the first week of use of some serious fishing.
ProsFairly light weight for frequent casting.
The compact performance of drag and line capacity.
Smooth mechanics of components.
Casting.
Looks great!
