Great musky reel
I've had this reel for two years, and it has definitely performed to my expectations. Casts really well, and the drag is really solid. Probably not the best option for large double bladed bucktails, but it's a very versatile reel for just about any other method of musky fishing.

When I first purchased I was extremely excited about the quality of this reel. I have had this reel for two seasons now and I have only been able to use it for about one half of a season due to mechanical errors. I am now waiting on parts they are out of stock on and by the time I receive the parts the fishing season will be over. Very disappointed in the duality and service for a pricey reel.

Awesome muskie reel
The 400 HSP is an awesome reel for rubber and jerkbaits for muskie. Holds up incredibly well in the coldest conditions and it is smooth as it was the day I bought it.

Great reel for the price!
This is my go to reel just because it was cheap and I'm not afraid to damage/lose it... but it's also got great features. It's not a chronarch, but it's similar to a curado! I also have the lexa casting rods, and when they're paired together, boy is it beautiful. It's also lined with 12lb Hybrid from Yozuri in purple smoke... and that's even more bad@$$! The reel is smooth and performs very well. The drag is smooth and casts are deep and long. The mag brakes help to stop nests, so it's a nice added benefit. Overall highly recommended.
ProsGreat features for the price Used in SW and FW with no problems Drag is smooth

great handling reel
used this for fishing saltwater for tog, used 40lb braid and it worked great. Love the line pick up and once you get the you get it set up with the weight you're using, no birds nest. made sure to clean it real well after the salt and my next trip will be for strippers.
Prosline pick up and cast control.

My favorite cheap baitcaster.
I have owned lexa 100 reel for about 2 years now, it cast a country mile and works great. I use it in saltwater and freshwater, never have had a problem.

A Special and Interesting Reel
If you are an angler who enjoy using the tackle as much as fighting a good fish then you should try this reel. Being a saltwater angler and mainly spin reels user, picking up this reel was an interesting thing after testing (casting and bringing back the line) it for around 2 hours casting from a beach I found:
Pros1- The reel ergonomics are great; I was able to cast above 100 yards. This is my first time to cast using bait-caster/multiplier and I casted more than 15 times over these 2 hours without any major backlashes. 2- The reel is very smooth and fast (7.1) I haven’t seen this ratio in any surf reel. It is true that you can get good gear ration in multipliers, but you will not get the same ergonomics. 3- Price is very comparative especially when you consider the features. If you cast lures, bait, offshore or surf fishing and looking for a new enjoyable change, try this reel.
ConsIf you don’t have an overhead road you will need to buy one

Outstanding reel for both fresh and salt water
You only need 1 reel for both salt and fresh water luring. With it's high capacity, casting poppers and top water lures is not an issue. Its a great reel to keep in your arsenal.

heavy duty baitcaster
this is one little workhorse baitcaster! got the 400H, it packs quite a bit of drag for such a small reel, very impressed!

great light muskie
This reel is great for lighter muskie applications. I own 3 of these in various ratios and they are good reels for smaller Bucktails and top raiders and jackpots. Easy to cast and has a good drag in a small reel. They are the best fitting reel I've touched for someone with medium size hands which is nice when casting all day. All in all I would have no problems recommending this reel.
ProsFits nicely in hand Good drag Long effortless casting
ConsDoesn't handle the bigger baits to well

Awesome Reel. Great Price
I bought the 300 with the power handle and use it for inshore fishing in the gulf coast. The high capacity and drag are great and the cast control works perfectly. It is my first daiwa reel and i would not hesitate to buy another daiwa product in the future.
ProsLooks. Drag. Capacity. Power Handle. Cast Control. Corrosion Resistance. Price.

I'm looking to pair this reel with a rod. I'll mainly be fishing floridas east coast Inlet's targeting snook, redfish, and occasional tarpon while making long casts with swimbaits, jigs, and possibly live baiting. What is a good rod for this type of fishing?
The Phenix M1 Inshore Baitcasting Rods would pair well with the Daiwa LEXA400PWR-P Lexa High Capacity Baitcasting Reel for east coast Florida fishing.
