Great Saltwater reel

Used it in the Florida Keys for Snapper and Grouper. Worked great!

Pleased with the result

I always wanted to have a reel loaded with mono and a small pencil popper on the front rack. This is the reel I wanted to try, TD made it possible.
ProsDrag, line lay, metal body.
ConsDon?t care for the lack of a ball bearing supported drag but, what can you expect for the money. The bail wire makes me nervous because of how thin it is.

I love this reel, I have different sizes and they all perform extremely well. Put my first 40"+ snook on the beach with this thing.
ProsSmooth casting, smooth drag and weighted perfectly.

I purchased the Boca 40 because of all the great reveiws. That said I will be returning this reel. The Shimano Sahara performed better out of the box. The Boca has a little bit more line capacity and maybe in the long run it would've been more durable but out of the box it is not very fluid or free spinning and takes more effort to turn the handle. The Shimano is $60 bucks less and in my opoinion performs better, is lighter too. The Boca does look cool and matched my rod but I am sending it back to Tackle Direct.
Conscan't select to back wind

Great buy
October 5, 2019
Bought because I needed reel to go on my new Terez Rods I bought on sale. These were on sale as well so I gave them a chance. Loved them. Great drag and light weight. Put together with Terez rod so my son could fish with lighter stuff but still have plenty of backbone and drag to haul in some big fish. We will see how the handle the salt

Great deal on a solid reel-price point versus what's out there is no comparison.

I beat on my gear pretty hard when I fish. This stands up to me and salt conds all day. I use this to jig and occasionally throw on a big surf rod to go after blacktips. Outstanding value.
ProsLight, strong, quality construction and super drag not that you need it. I love these reels. I am still trying to compare them for a season or two to my Penn Slammers, and the weight and drag and more than comparable. Cabo's are great as well.

For the money $110 you can't go wrong

Paired this with a Lews inshore 7' rod to drag beach with a flounder rig. Stellar setup and ultralight rod and reel. Can fish it all day, and it has plenty of drag. I have some Cabo's as well, but at this price point its a no brainer to me.
ProsSuper light, holds up to salt conds, and plenty of drag. Pound for pound a more than sound value.
ConsSo far I am happy. I wish there was reverse, but I get by with it as quality of construction is solid.

Great reel and great drag system........
For the price that Tackle Direct charges for this reel it cant be beat.
Still do not quite understand the little disk washers they supply with each reel just in case it does not stack the line on the spool properly. (loads too much front or back of spool)
ProsDrag system weight line capacity being reversable L or R handed. ratio
