We use these for pier fishing all the time.
My buddy has three of them, and seeing as how i do most of my fishing from off a boat, and how if i buy another reel my girlfriend might disown me, i use his every once in a while. I have a couple of Penn spinners, but it disappoints me to say the Penns take a lot of maintenance. I have used both his cheaper model from a different store more tuned to freshwater and they have worked great.

Good reel for pluggin
Bought this for plugging the surf to pair with a 9'6 Tsunami Airwave Elite. Has held up great for over a year and has been fished hard. Landed over 200 blues and stripers on it so far. It's nice and lightweight so I can for all day/night and never get tired. Only issue is that there is a gear on top of the spool that can easily pop out and get lost if you don't know about it. TD was great and replaced it for me once we figured out what the problem was.
ProsSmooth, strong, lightweight
ConsSpool parts can easily fall off during maintenance.

The best!
I've tried all brands of reels for surf fishing. None of them can sustain the salt water and sand that i put them through. I decided to buy the boca 40 reel and give it a try. Outstanding is the best way to describe it. This reel takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. The anti reverse system is second to none! It has NEVER failed me. Not a speck of rust anywhere on my reel, and it's always get soaked. I've had it a few years and believe me, it still performs like new! Don't hesitate to buy one of these reels. You will NOT be disappointed!!!!
ProsGreat anti reverse locking mechanism. Resists rust. Works very smoothly. Long lasting.

Great Robust Real
Bought these not to long ago during the promotion that was running. So far these reels work great. I have brought them offshore twice and they held up great for pitch rods for dolphin. Handle is tough and comfortable, bail and movement smooth.

TRICKING TRIGGERFISH
Mon, 23 Jul 2018
