New for 2019, the Shimano Stradic FL Spinning Reels are the latest edition to a line of spinning reels that for generations has served as a benchmark by which all other reels in its class are measured. For years, the Stradic has set the bar for innovation and performance at its price point, and the Stradic FL continues this tradition by putting flagship level performance in the hands of anglers at a price never thought possible. Now driven by Shimano's MicroModule II cold forged gear, anglers can experience unprecedented smoothness and power transfer. Internal components are tuned to the highest tolerances possible with Shimano's Silent Drive technology.

To protect your investment from the elements, Shimano's X-Protect water repellent coating and specially designed water channeling labyrinth construction work to prevent water intrusion and preserve that out-of-the-box effortless rotation for the life of the reel without adding the rotational resistance commonly felt in sealed reels. Euipped with a heavy duty Cross Carbon Drag system, the Stradic FL is poised to be put to the ultimate test against the hardest pulling inshore species. The introduction of the Long Stroke Spool offers enhanced casting capabilities by decreasing the frequency in which your line changes direction while coming off the spool, creating less turbulence going through the guides and resulting in longer, smoother casts. From the lake to the back bays and beyond, the Stradic FL proves itself to be a worthy edition to the Stradic legacy.

Shimano Technology Found in Stradic FL Spinning Reels :

  • Hagane Gear - Boasting amazing strength and durability, Hagane Gear is a process in which the gearing is calculated in minute detail and cold forged instead of being cut. This application of state-of-the-art technologies gives the angler reel smoothness from the first use through years of enjoyment.
  • Hagane Body - A reel body with high rigidity, which virtually eliminates body flexing due to its stiffness and impact resistance. The result? An angler’s actions are more efficiently transformed into cranking power. It’s efficiency through strength.
  • X-Ship - By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear remains in precise alignment with the drive gear and stays in the same position under even the heaviest of loads. This eliminates friction between the spool shaft and gear which translates to better casting performance and increased gear durability.
  • MicroModule II Gear - State-of-the-art gear design makes use of smaller gear teeth and more of them, which results in a more efficient gear train and much smoother retrieve.
  • Long Stroke Spool - By increasing the height of the spool, the line is able to be laid on the spool without the spool having to fully oscillate as frequently. This results in the line having to change direction while coming off the spool fewer times during a cast, resulting is less turbulence going through the guides for a smoother and longer cast.
  • SilentDrive - A long list of fine-tuned internal micro adjustments and enhancements that reduce any handle play and noise from moving parts.
  • X-Protect - By combining a water repellant coating and a specially designed water channeling labyrinth construction, X-Protect provides high-level water resistance without adding weight or sacrificing light rotor rotation.
  • G-Free Body - G-Free Body technology enables the reel’s center of gravity to be moved closer to the center of the reel seat, and therefore the anglers hand position. This shift in weight and balance helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.
  • S A-RB Bearings - These bearings undergo the same anti-corrosion process as Shimano’s A-RB Bearings, with the addition of shields on both sides of the bearings to reduce the possibility of salt, dirt, or other foreign objects inhibiting the bearing’s rotation.
  • Cross Carbon Drag - Allows for a wider range of drag settings, enhanced drag washer durability, and the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.

Great light tackle reel for bay and inshore
    August 29, 2020
Bought the 4000 for our annual Florida trip. I replaced the bushings for bearings on the handle, spool support and pinion support. I paired this with the Teramar 7'4" medium, 20/b sufix 832 yellow braid and fluorocarbon leaders from 20 to 40lbs. Balances well and light. I pulled numerous snook from under the mangroves. Also locked the the drag and pulled several gag groupers out of the rocks and the reel stood up to the challenge. Used the reel hard for the ten days down there and never failed. I also used it to surf cast off the beaches with spoons and plugs. It did get splashed from the waves and at the end of the day I rinsed it and wiped it down. After the hard fishing it still feels like new and looking forward to using it again on the next upcoming trip.
Prosfeels good on light inshore combo. Good drag,

Got the new one and it is better than the old one, which is better than the one before. They just keep making them lighter, stronger, more durable, and w/ the same great performance as always. I have about a dozen of the Stradic family from the originals to the F, FG, C-14, J, and now the L and love them all!! Smooth, great uptake, and cast well.
ProsI agree why it was ICAST top spinning reel 2019

Assuming relability and durability is always fair with high end Shimano reels. The most important difference between Shimano and other brands is their very smooth drag. Stradic models are pricey, but their performance and quality justify the price. A good investment in trouble free fishing.

Best mid range Spinning Reel to be had
    July 17, 2020
I mainly bass fish and the 4000 size might be a bit big but I have had no issues. No issues out of the box just spooled it up with some 20# power Pro with a floro leader and mounted it up. The first thing that stood out to me was how smooth the reel was. It also has one of the smoothest casting spinning spools I have seen. I can't wait to try it out on the fall walleye in lake Erie. This model also come out of the box with carbon drag washers that the smaller sized reels do offer. saves you the time and money upgrading the drag washers.

Was looking for a good reel for a 7’ st croix triumph rod...normally a salt water guy but with the virus and not traveling decided to do some fresh water fishing locally...so decided on the Shimano Stradic 3000FL...good for fresh water and lite saltwater...so far been wetting the line in lakes and works great...smoother than my Penn reels and good match with the rod.
Been bass fishing mostly with lures and doing great...considering picking up a 5000FL for surf fishing..
ProsLite, smooth, even line distribution on the spool ....I?d would buy another probably a 5000FL
    ConsNo complaints!!!

Wow this reel is nice. Its super light, casting and retrieves ultra smooth, very powerful and you can spool on quite a bit of line. All of this combines into what i consider a very versatile rod that i can throw on my inshore for boat fishing or i can put on my bass spinning rod for bigger bass, catfish and pike fishing.

You will not be disappointed with this purchase. I'm expecting a lot of years of enjoyment out this reel.

I'm compared this to my sons Shimano Nexave 4000 and you get what you pay for when it comes to the smoothness of a reel.
Prossuper smooth as you'd expect from shimano in this price range. light weight a lot of drag for such a small package

I've been running shimanos on my great lakes salmon gear for years. But my old stradic kicked the bucket after about 15 seasons. This new one is super smooth, great drag, and sleek to boot. I don't doubt that this one will last just as long if not longer.
