Absolute nightmare!!
So I finally broke down and bought a Stella 30000 while on vacation to the US, wanted one since they were released. Got it home and went out on a charter after some bluefish, about an hour in i hooked up on a nice blue and got it about half way into the boat when my new reel came loose and fetched up in the eye of my rod for a split second before the line snapped and down goes the reel never to be seen again, I feel stupid thinking that I must not have had the rod seat screwed down, then I look at my rod and the foot of the reel IS STILL ATTACHED!! So before I get into the conversation I just had with Shimano I feel I should give you some details regarding my setup, so I’m using an ugly stick medium heavy casting rod and 25lb seaguar tatsu fluorocarbon mainline. So I call shimano, explain what just happened and the rep was like, nope this doesn’t happen to Stella’s, nothing we can do... I asked to speak with a supervisor and was informed that none were available but he had been working there for 6 years and he could tell me with 100% confidence that it’s not a warranty issue and they would not be able to help... I asked him how this was not a warranty issue? How this couldn’t be considered a defect in the reel? He said that for it to be a warranty issue the entire product needs to be returned so this could never be considered as a warranty claim. Then told me I must have overstressed the reel and it would not be covered ( how could I possibly have overstressed the reel with a bluefish on 25lb test Fluro )... I asked if they would at least look at the reel foot to see if they can find any flaws in the material, to which he kind of laughed and said “That makes no sense, why would we do that? What can we tell from a reel foot...” So it looks like I have learned a very expensive lesson today, I will never buy another Shimano product again, if a company does not stand behind their products when something goes wrong then why waste your money with them... Absolutely disgusted with Shimano, can’t believe the arrogance of their customer support reps!

Smooth!
This reel is like butter! The 6000 is light enough to cast all day yet strong enough to land 200+ pound tarpon. I spooled it wit 50# Power Pro Super Slick. The drag is extremely smooth and allows for really putting the heat on fish. Love this reel. Just bought another one!

Great Offshore Spinning Reel
One of the things I love about this reel is how powerful it is for a spinning reel. Not only that it has a lot of drag, but the drag is really smooth. I have 80# of PP MaxC and pair it with a 8'3 popping rod.

Awesome product
Probably the best reels out there, one of mine recently spent five days at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico before I got it back.It just needed a quick rinse and was as good as new.Unfortunately I had already bought this one to replace the one I thought I would never see again.

Best Reel Ever Created.
I bought the 30000 series. LIterally a beast and comparable to some 50w conventional reels. This is perfect for what I do. SHARK FISHING. Haven't caught anything yet with it so hopefully my review can be better after I catch an 8fter on this reel.

Powerful Stella 10000
Best reel I ever owned! Not only a beautiful reel all around but build with the latest Shimano improvements / technology that makes the Stella a most have. I have the 10000 model and put it to the test last year fishing yellowfin tunas in the 60-100 # class. Incredible power for such compact reel. I am already saving to add the 18000 into my arsenal, more line capacity.
ProsBack up by Shimano customer service pricy but you are paying for a reel for life with 55lbs of drag (10000 model) it can handle big fish Engineering marvel in your hands Lightweight

Would this reel be suitable for casting to tuna? I'd like to stick with this size if i can, instead of going to the more obvious 18000 or 20000.
1 Answers
Depends on the size Tuna but the 14000 Stella does have over 55 lbs of drag which would handle most Tuna.

Would the 14000 size Stella be good for surf fishing for striped bass?

Depending on which rod you would use will determine the size reel. if you plan on using a 11' or 12' rod the Stella 14000 would be suitable for that.

I purchased the Stella 14000 reel with 60lb line for snapper and grouper fishing. Wanted some information on a appropriate fishing rod to go with the reel?
1 Answers
I would have to recommend either the Shimano Terez Spinning rods or the Shimano Tallus Blue Water Spinning rods that would match this reel very well. Depending on the fishing you are going to be doing either a 6'6" or the 7' models in the heavy to xtra heavy would make a good pair for some heavy fish.

what rod would you recommend for Stella 14000? Snapper and grouper fishing
1 Answers
This reel would be fine for bringing in Snapper and Grouper. It features plenty of drag and torque to be able to handle heavy fish from deeper depths. It can also hold 240yds of 80lb which will be more than enough line for the fishing you are looking to do.
