Trevala Jigging Casting Rods Feature Details
  • Shimano® TC4 Construction®
Shimano has engineered the new responsive TC4 Construction material to elevate your fishing experience. The TC4 Construction material wraps a double inner layer of advanced, dynamic T Glass with an inner and outer spiral of high modulus graphite. This breakthrough in design construction results in an extremely durable, crisp, yet lightweight rod.

Great Rod
February 11, 2015
I paired this rod with my Penn Fathom 12. It is an absolutely awesome combo for the fish that I use it for. I use 30 pound braid on it. I use it for Mangrove Snapper, Grunts, Black Seabass, Porgies, Triggerfish, Flounder, and Grouper. It is a great combo. The Trevala has lots of power for the bigger fish and is lots of fun to use.

Disappointed with rod strenght
December 27, 2019
First time out with rod and hooked into a moderate size BFT (90/100 lbs) XH model rated 80-200. Once the fish was vertical and I needed a good backbone to bring the fish up nearly the entire rod was bent and I could feel the red contorting left and right to try and flex. I was very concerned the rod was going to break and took and absurd amount of time to land the fish. Maybe look to get the XXH jigging rod for tuna 50+ lbs.
ProsPriced fairly
ConsNot enough backbone for bigger fish

Only fished it for a couple of days so far and had good luck. It's handled rock fish, salmon and halibut. I'm so impressed gonna order a second rod. Great addition to my kayak arsenal. Can't wait to go chase some strippers! Great build quality and finish. I now understand why the are so popular.
Prosquality, action , strength, sensitivity, price.

One of the best Rods - Shimano TVC70ML Trevala Jigging Casting Rod
April 10, 2019
The Shimano TVC70ML is my second Trevala Jigging Rod. I also have the MH2. I use them for just about anything, but mostly bottom fishing. They are sensitive enough to feel the little nibbles and strong enough for large fish. I caught huge eels(by-catch) with ease while bottom fishing for Sea Bass, Cod, Pollack, etc.
ProsStrong and sensitive.

Awesome rod
December 17, 2018
Awesome all around versatile rod. Have not used mine but was impressed with my fishing guide’s over a week of fishing the Sea of Cortez out of San Carlos. Everything from jigging to throwing a popper to trolling for marlin & sailfish. It handled 20# YT to 75# bill fish without a problem. Love the two piece design for storage & transport. Plan to buy more as $’s allow.
ProsLight weight, strong with good feel for the bite. Handled bill fish no problem

Good bottom rod and jigging
September 5, 2018
I bought this rod since I snapped my Penn jigging rod which was a 5'8" and paired it with my Torium 30 spooled with powerpro. I used it for the red snapper season in Florida and it pulled up some beasts in the 80/90 depth using a fish finder rig with a 6 oz. Lead. Then I took it to the Bahamas and I fished for Strawberry groupers in 150 foot with a Shimano glow jig and caught some nice grouper and even caught a Mahi on the drop? Have only had rod a few months but feel it will be in my arsenal for awhile. I feel the 5'8" would have a tad more back bone to it.

I want to catch black bass in the 2 pound range bottom fishing.  And dead bait fish on bottom for 15 lb grouper and snapper.   Maybe occasionally troll a Mann’s stretch 30+.  Will this rod work for all of that

1 Answer
This rod will work for what your fishing for and how you want to fish for them. I would recommend against trolling with this rod.

would this rod be a good pairing for a Daiwa STTBG30H Saltist Black Gold. it would be used for inlet fishing and possibly wreck fishing
1 Answer
The M or MH models would be great options for the style of fishing your doing. If you want a rod with a bit more backbone the MH would be just that.
