Saltwater Experience S17E06: Mike Counihan and the Sharks

Season 17 Episode 06:

Mike Counihan And The Sharks

Mike Counihan And The Sharks

To go after some of the fiercest creatures in the Florida coastal waters, captains Tom Rowland and Rich Tudor call in an equally fierce human. Mike Counihan is a veteran New York City police officer and sponsored elite athlete who has been featured in the New York Post, Men's Fitness and Ironman magazine. But the "Jacked Cop" also finds plenty of time for saltwater — in particular, surfcasting for striper and sharks. While Counihan is a friendly guy, make no mistake that he takes fishing as seriously as his police and fitness work.

As they board the boat, Mike says he's looking to catch some jack, snooks and tarpon. But when the captains mention going shark-fishing later in the day, their guest is hooked. Counihan goes to the West Palm Beach area every year for the black tip shark migration, and they put that knowledge and passion to work in the Middle Florida Keys flats. Join Mike as he seeks some prize fish with the crew while escaping from the stresses of working in the NYPD counterterrorism bureau.
