With these new boss reels Accurate has now entered into the single drag market. These reels, like their "Boss Extreme" counter parts, are made of 6061-T6 billet aircraft aluminum for light weight and strength. They feature a very simplistic design with stainless steel gears, wet drag for smoothness, and an ergonomic rubber handle that fits perfectly in your hand. They come with a polished aluminum finish, are lighter, more comfortable and very easy to use. These reels were designed with fishermen's needs in mind. If you are chasing bullet Tuna, schoolie Dolphin, or trying to catch your first White Seabass, the Boss Fury has a size to meet your fishing needs at an affordable price.

Bought these reels to pair with Lamiglas 7040c rods for offshore bottom/wreck fishing. Honestly I haven't used them yet but they seem like they will pair well and get the job done.

AWESOME

Everything I want in a reel. I'm more of a bottom fisherman, fishing deep water through New England along with fall Blackfishing. Excellent for both applications!!!
Pros
  • Light weight, drag, smooth
Cons
  • none

Very good reel for the price.

I purchased this reel to replace a diawa saltist that I use for live bait trolling for kings. The diawa keep breaking springs for the clicker so I wanted something a little more robust. For the price, this is a great reel so far. Not as smooth as a Shimano Talica but also not nearly as expensive.
Pros
  • Great fit and finish.
  • Loud clicker.
  • Smooth free spool.
Cons
  • Had to send the first one I purchased back to get an updated clicker. But accurate told me the new ones come with the updated clicker.

GREAT REELS
May 10, 2019
This is my second set of FX-500, these reels have the smoothest drag. The clicker is nice and loud when a fish hits the live bait. Have them paired with 7'6'', 20-40 fast action rods. This makes for a great king mackerel set up.

Accurate Fury
October 28, 2018
Great reel! I took it on a overnight tuna trip out of San Diego and had a blast. Although I used the 1 speed 4:1 gear ratio because of the slow pitch jigs used aka butterfly etc. it didn't require a high speed yoyo reel so it worked just fine. Most of my bites were on the downfall anyhow.

always thought the doulble drag reels were ok, but prefered Avet

single drag.....Meh. If you are insistent on buying a Accurate go with the double drag models, little bit more cash but more drag

What would a good multi-purpose rod be for a 500? Looking for something that would work well for live bait and some trolling, mahi, wahoo, kings and small tuna
1 Answer
I would pair that reel with the TackleDirect TDSSUT661MHSB Silver Hook Series Conventional Stand-Up Rod it can handle some light trolling and will be good for live lining.

Would the XGS 600 be good for trolling for mostly mahi, black fin tuna, sailfish, and maybe the occasional marlin?
1 Answer
This reel would perform wonderfully for the fishing application you intend on using it for, This reel would certainly hold up to any of those near shore game fish and make for an exciting fight with marlin and sailfish.

The higher gear ratio will make this reel more efficient when fighting these speedy fish
