Avet Single Speed Reels
Avet single speed reels include industry leading features unlike any other reel on the market. Featuring an adjustable strike pre-set lever drag system, precision machined 6061-T6 aluminum and stainless steel components, 8 rubber sealed stainless steel ball bearings, stainless steel gears and Avet's smooth, powerful Avedrag dry drag system. Avet single speed reels are at the peak of quality and performance. All Avet single speed reels are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system. (except HXW)

Avet 2-Speed Reels
Avet 2-speed reels include all of the quality features of our single speed reels, with 2-speeds. The simple, yet reliable gear shift mechanism built into the 2-speed models is so easy to operate that it becomes second nature almost immediately. The push button located at the center of the handle arm permits shifting between the high and low gears without your hand ever leaving the handle knob, and can be shifted with or without pressure, so you can shift while cranking, or when a fish is running. All Avet 2-speed lever drag casting reels (SX-HX) are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system.

Avet M.C. Cast Anti-Backlash / Cast Control
Avet's revolutionary M.C. Cast (Magic Cast) adjustable magnetic anti-backlash cast control system is available as an option on all of their single and 2-speed casting reels, SX through HX, and is a standard feature on the Raptor Series Reels (excluding the HXW Raptor). The M.C. Cast control system incorporates Avet's Patented Adjustable Intensity Polar Amplification Technology to create the most efficient and easy to use cast control system for a conventional style reel. From the lightest bait to heavy lures, the M.C. Cast Control System is simple to use, even if you have never before cast a conventional style reel. Simply place your thumb on the spool to cast, swing, remove your thumb from the spool and let it fly! You will only need to thumb the spool when the lure hits the water.

Avet Raptor Series Reels
Avet Raptor Series Reels are the cutting edge in compact large game reels. These reels are consistently landing shockingly large fish in relation to their compact size. Designed for use with the ultra thin, super strong superbraid lines available today, it's now possible to target large game species with a reel half of the size and weight compared to a reel traditionally designed for similar monofilament line and drag capacities. And the Raptor has the drag and cranking power to back it up.

The Avet Raptor Series comes standard with Avet's innovative 2-speed gears, M.C. Cast control, and a ratcheting drag lever with a positive stop strike button to prevent accidental advancement past strike. Featuring Avet's patented DUAL DIRECT DRIVE Full Surface Caliper Brake System, Raptor models put out nearly twice the drag pressure of the original Avets! There's a Raptor model that will stop any fish in the ocean, yet small and light enough to cast. If you find a fish too big for a Raptor, you probably wouldn't want it near your boat! The Raptor Series reels are the same sizes as the original Avet reels, with enhanced line capacities, and each are engineered and built to fish several line classes heavier than the original Avet Reels.

This was an outstanding purchase I have to say I’m extremely pleased with its small but strong ability. This little reel packs a big punch as usual with the ever great Avet reels. If you are looking for a smaller reel with great capabilities this is it.

Excellent small powerful reel

I have been a customer of tackle direct for a while and appreciate their excellent service and quality products sold by them. I am also an Avet fan ; with most reels having been purchased from tackle direct . The Avet SXJ single speed reel while being compact in size has excellent line capacity and power which equals or exceeds larger
Products , I have used it on many of my fishing trips as a primary or backup reel . I can highly recommend the Avet SXJ to any one who is
Either a beginner or more experienced fisherman. it’s ability to capture a variety of
Fish will not disappoint users .

customer service nonexistant! When working reel is great. wears and breaks easy
September 2, 2019
When functioning this reel was so impressive I bought two more. They cast like a dream and never backlashed. I wish they had a line guide but when chunking or bottom fishing with them it is not needed. What I found out is that after a season of catching lots of fish they break. I clean them religiously after every outing and baby them in cases until they go on rods. They always come inside after use/cleaning and hang out in a temperature and humidity controlled room like all my sporting equipment. Breaking is no big deal, I kind of expect it when they take hits from several or more 30+ lb fish daily. Problem with these reels breaking is that means dealing with customer service of avet (communication is non existent to my requests for repairs). It says in their manuals the reel should be serviced after a certain number of outings (I believe 28). I definitely exceeded that number but didn't think it would be a big deal due to other cheaper reels of mine lasting longer. As of right now I can not reccomend this reel due to the poor customer service. My Abu c3s and c4s have held up to 10 years+ abuse under the same circumstance and conditions with out fail. My ABU's do not cast as far but reliability Trump's casting in my book (it's not like the avets out cast them by that much despite being much easier to cast). If you like to feel like your begging to get a reel serviced avet is your company. If you want a tank that will handle big fish with out breaking go to ABU c3 and c4s . I will continue to try contacting Avet for assistance but, I've kind of lost faith in them at this point seeing as it's my second season of them being broken and my requests for assistance go unanswered. When paying for a quality reel I expect it would also come with quality assistance, this so far has not been the case with my avet. Tackle direct if you could help me out getting my two reels repaired and serviced that would be amazing.
ProsWhen working reel is smooth, strong and a pleasure to cast/use
ConsTerrible customer service from Avet

Well built, easy to cast
June 20, 2019
Very solidly built reel. The narrow spool on the 'J' models makes it easy to thumb the line and control the cast. This is my first lever drag reel and takes a little getting used to but I do like it.
Cast control is on the strong side but that not a bad thing. Overall, a great reel.

The first Avet I bought and I truly don't regret it. This is a reel you will have for years if you take care of it. Definitely worth the price for what you get. Make sure to use a good rod with this reel and you'll catch some crazy stuff!

This is the second AVET reel I've owned. Would put it up against any of the competition. This is a nice light weight reel with plenty of capacity for anything inshore. Everything on the reel works flawlessly. Love the MC option which I wish I'd have gotten on my other reel.

Would the SXJ pair well with a Shimano Teramar TMCX76HB to be used as a 20# Calico Bass/Rockfish/Smaller tuna and Yellowtail rod? Thanks.
1 Answers
Depending on what kind of line you will be using, you may want to use the SX instead of the SXJ to insure that you have adequate line capcity. So long as you have approximately 300 yards of line on your reel both the SX and SXJ would pair well with the TMCX76HB.

I won an SXJ series at a fishing seminar and wanted to know what rod would be a good match for it. Just to give you and idea my other rod/reel inventory consist of Shimano, Lami glass, Penn and Saint Croix. My price range is $100-$200 for a rod. A little higher if something would really work for me. Thanks in advance.

Depends what you are fishing for. A shimano Clarus or a St. Croix Tidemaster would be a good fit for the reel.

would like to put an avets sxj on a star aerial roller rod what do you think???

Reel is way too small for that rod. It is a "lighter" jigging reel, not a trolling reel.
