Avet Single Speed Reels
Avet single speed reels include industry leading features unlike any other reel on the market. Featuring an adjustable strike pre-set lever drag system, precision machined 6061-T6 aluminum and stainless steel components, 8 rubber sealed stainless steel ball bearings, stainless steel gears and Avet's smooth, powerful Avedrag dry drag system. Avet single speed reels are at the peak of quality and performance. All Avet single speed reels are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system. (except HXW)

Avet 2-Speed Reels
Avet 2-speed reels include all of the quality features of our single speed reels, with 2-speeds. The simple, yet reliable gear shift mechanism built into the 2-speed models is so easy to operate that it becomes second nature almost immediately. The push button located at the center of the handle arm permits shifting between the high and low gears without your hand ever leaving the handle knob, and can be shifted with or without pressure, so you can shift while cranking, or when a fish is running. All Avet 2-speed lever drag casting reels (SX-HX) are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system.

Avet M.C. Cast Anti-Backlash / Cast Control
Avet's revolutionary M.C. Cast (Magic Cast) adjustable magnetic anti-backlash cast control system is available as an option on all of their single and 2-speed casting reels, SX through HX, and is a standard feature on the Raptor Series Reels (excluding the HXW Raptor). The M.C. Cast control system incorporates Avet's Patented Adjustable Intensity Polar Amplification Technology to create the most efficient and easy to use cast control system for a conventional style reel. From the lightest bait to heavy lures, the M.C. Cast Control System is simple to use, even if you have never before cast a conventional style reel. Simply place your thumb on the spool to cast, swing, remove your thumb from the spool and let it fly! You will only need to thumb the spool when the lure hits the water.

Avet Raptor Series Reels
Avet Raptor Series Reels are the cutting edge in compact large game reels. These reels are consistently landing shockingly large fish in relation to their compact size. Designed for use with the ultra thin, super strong superbraid lines available today, it's now possible to target large game species with a reel half of the size and weight compared to a reel traditionally designed for similar monofilament line and drag capacities. And the Raptor has the drag and cranking power to back it up.

The Avet Raptor Series comes standard with Avet's innovative 2-speed gears, M.C. Cast control, and a ratcheting drag lever with a positive stop strike button to prevent accidental advancement past strike. Featuring Avet's patented DUAL DIRECT DRIVE Full Surface Caliper Brake System, Raptor models put out nearly twice the drag pressure of the original Avets! There's a Raptor model that will stop any fish in the ocean, yet small and light enough to cast. If you find a fish too big for a Raptor, you probably wouldn't want it near your boat! The Raptor Series reels are the same sizes as the original Avet reels, with enhanced line capacities, and each are engineered and built to fish several line classes heavier than the original Avet Reels.

Quality product
This is the second AVET reel I've owned. Would put it up against any of the competition. This is a nice light weight reel with plenty of capacity for anything inshore. Everything on the reel works flawlessly. Love the MC option which I wish I'd have gotten on my other reel.

This is actually my second sx reel. I use my narrow reel so much I decided to get a second reel with more line capacity. These reels can handle pretty large fish.

Great Option for a Custom Rod
Building rods for my daughter, Avet makes it easy with all the options they have available on these quality locally constructed reels.
ProsColor options on a quality product
ConsA line feed to the spool for young anglers would be nice to avoid tangles.

Bought the six 5.3 was worried about not having the mc. Haven’t used a bait caster in about 5 years. Not a problem with this little guy. Cast farther than any reel I have. Only backlash once. I have been catching a lot of oversized reds out of my kayak. The reel handles big reds with ease.
ProsYou won?t find a quality reel for the price. Light weight and easy to cast.

Nice reels
Just what you expect from Avet.
ProsSmooth and strong drag, durable.
ConsNot sure how well the MC actually works. You can turn it into a birds nest, not a great casting reel.

I took this reel on a half day trip in Socal. I have 50lb braided line with 20lb top shot. I can't say enough about this reel, smooth and so powerful. I caught bass, bonito, yellowtail, halibut and 50lb bat ray. The Sx is exceptional.

Avet 5.3 lever drag
I bought this reel to pair with a Shimano Trevala medium rod for jigging Striper and Blues along with night Bass eeling, I have used this combo for a few weeks now and absolutely love it, The reel feels great in my hand holds plenty of line to let the the fish run with no worries of getting spooled b4 tiring ,the drag is smooth and reel feels strong while under Battle. I plan on purchasing another Avet soon based on the few trips I have taken it out on I feel that it is a must have in my arsonal
ConsI only own 1 of these currently, None great reel for the price point

ProsGreat quality

Second Avet Ive purchased
Great reel at a reasonable price. Made in the USA and extremely durable. This model has a smaller spool width so take care not to add too much line. If the reel is over wound it tends to bind if you don’t keep the line retrieve even and allow it to bunch on one side.
Matced this with a Tsunami TSSPJC-681H and the rig weighs around 20 oz's
ProsSmall size and weight make it easy to fish for extended periods of time without fatigue
Cons This model has a smaller spool wudth so take care not to add to much line. If the reel is over wound it ttends to bind if you dont keep the line retriveeven.

Best reels on the market in my opinion and magic cast makes them better!

I have three Avets and I have used many....many..... more reels over the years! My buddy owns a charter boat, and another works on a party boat, plus i have my own boat, and bring guests all the time so i have the fortunate luxury of getting to try all kinds of reels and poles. Nothing really compares to these guys. They cost more money but it is worth it by a mile. These are reels that you buy if you want to hand them down to your kids and they hand them down to your grand kids! Just bought a 30/2 wide to add to my collection for sharking and WOW! no comparison! This line of reels is the New Penn in my opinion!
Prosgreat quality. Best drags on the market. Line capacity. Last years. tough as nails. beautiful finish. smooth reel action. cast as far as........Ahem....not going to say the next word out of politeness.
Consone, unless you are a person who does not like to catch fish.

Would the SXJ pair well with a Shimano Teramar TMCX76HB to be used as a 20# Calico Bass/Rockfish/Smaller tuna and Yellowtail rod? Thanks.
1 Answers
Depending on what kind of line you will be using, you may want to use the SX instead of the SXJ to insure that you have adequate line capcity. So long as you have approximately 300 yards of line on your reel both the SX and SXJ would pair well with the TMCX76HB.

I won an SXJ series at a fishing seminar and wanted to know what rod would be a good match for it. Just to give you and idea my other rod/reel inventory consist of Shimano, Lami glass, Penn and Saint Croix. My price range is $100-$200 for a rod. A little higher if something would really work for me. Thanks in advance.

Depends what you are fishing for. A shimano Clarus or a St. Croix Tidemaster would be a good fit for the reel.

would like to put an avets sxj on a star aerial roller rod what do you think???

Reel is way too small for that rod. It is a "lighter" jigging reel, not a trolling reel.
