Potential 2026 Striped Bass Restrictions

Your Voice and Feedback Matters!
The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) is considering new regulations that could impact your ability to fish for striped bass in 2026. They are proposing a 12% reduction for the recreational sector quota, which would likely require additional seasonal closures to achieve the recommended reduction. They are also considering a possible "no targeting" period, that would not only prevent you from keeping a typically legal striped bass for the dinner table, but also from even fishing for striped bass at all. Yes, that is right, potential elimination of the enitre fishery for recreational anglers!
While we here at TackleDirect are proponents of conservation efforts to ensure future generations of anglers will have access to our fisheries, the ASMFC's proposed restrictions are based on unreliable data that threatens both angler access and the economy within the northeast United States.
How Can You Make Your Voice Heard?
If you are in opposition to ASMFC's potential restrictions, we need your help to tell the ASMFC to reject new closures and maintain status quo management for 2026 and beyond. There are multiple ways to make your voice heard ahead of the October 3rd cut-off including:
